Who should pay for the Valet? Client or Escort?

I was talking about this with an escort a couple of weeks ago. He said when he finds out people are staying at a certain hotel in Dallas that has no convenient self parking and an expensive valet that he wants to ask them to pay an additional $20 to cover the extra parking cost. While I agreed with him in principle, I told him he should note on his ad that outcalls may include additional fees for parking so that potential clients will be informed up front. Ultimately I think he decided to just let it go.

The escort is your guest coming to see you at your request. If i know they are driving, i just tell them to charge the room. Upon check out, i always pay the parking separately in cash and ask that it be removed from the bill (my company arranges car service and a parking charge would definitely raise questions).

My personal feeling has always been that the person driving the car pay the valet fee unless the passenger wishes to. Not just in a client/escort situation, but in any situation. I think this is a little picky.

I do agree with Tom that working guys should indicate that there may be additional fees for outcalls. Easy to do. Just put a + after outcall rate

The outcall rate listed in their ad should already cover all travel expenses within the travel area they cover. Perhaps additional charge for long distances. Do the escorts lower the outcall rate if they can walk to an appointment and have no travel expenses?

They can mutually agree beforehand who will pay, but I’d think escorts should normally include any expenses (tolls, parking, cab or bus fares, even lube and rubbers) into their fee. That’s why their outcall fee is usually more than their incall fee.

I think it depends on the valet. http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

I always pay for it myself and never bring it up. I also do self parking unless I'm running late (which would be my fault to begin with). I used to use valet a lot but then looked at how much money I could be saving if I just took the effort to plan accordingly and be a few minutes early to figure out parking. I see a lot of the same hotels and I've got all of the parking decks figured out, so its not so bad.

Only time I have asked for parking was when there was a special event going on in which case parking was $35+

If I am paying an escort a $1000 for an evening the last thing I want to be hit with is a request for parking (or any other unexpected add-on fees). Yes, I would probably pay it, but I guarantee I would never hire that escort again.

When I am traveling and have invited an escort to visit me at my hotel, I determine before the visit, the parking situation and any valet or other charges that the escort may encounter and tell the escort that I will cover these costs (knowing what they are in advance, of course) in addition to the agreed upon fee. If the escort either does not have a car (such as in the big cities like NYC), then I always cover rouindtrip cab/car/transit fare. I find that this policy is an encouraging and friendly gesture to the escort and quite often means a better appointment for the both of us. Naturally, I always retain the services of well-reviewed escorts and in the email or telephone communications leading up to the appointment is a detail that I always cover so no one is surprised (me or him). When I am visiting an escort at his location, I always cover my parking costs if there are any.

Same logic for me ... if you're paying me $200 for an hour, you shouldn't have to worry about there being any extra charges. Only if I have to drive more than an hour to get to you will I bring it up..

See I totally agree here. If I hire an escort and ask him to come to my hotel, why would I expect him to come out of pocket anything? I think that paying someones parking is just the cost that a client encounters when hiring. I can't imagine a situation where I would expect the escort to pay for valet parking.

If the out fee is higher than the in fee, I think the escort should pay and he can do what Xander does and spend a little extra time looking for cheaper parking. That's the part of the point of a higher out fee.

If the fee is the same, i think the paying for the parking is called for.

Things like that are one reason I tend to be the one doing the traveling to the escort's place.

Hmmm...I was once given 1200 and valet was paid for. And he seen me again (I know everyone is different, just using that as an example)

I just know that anytime I've had to do valet it's usually been offered to me and they do pay it. Otherwise I'll park on the street (which I prefer, don't like leaving my car with people) or garage. I know valet can be insanely expensive. I felt a bit cheeky when a client suggested I do valet for $28, when the elevator would have taken me right down to the garage for $15. Basically paying for the inconvenience of disabling the alarm should it go off.

An additional outcall rate may not be for covering parking but the mere trip of getting to the person. Especially if I'm out of town and have a nice hotel. It can be almost counter-productive to do an outcall.

Counter productive? Honey unless you charge $50 an hour its not counter productive.

darn ya'll, some seriously cheap folks coming out of the woodwork.

if you can afford to spend time at a hotel that has valet then you can pay for the escort to park his car while he's seeing you. An escort doesn't owe you that. I'm asking the guy to come to me, so its only fair.

if i made my guys pay for their parking, not only would I be embarrassed but I gather they think me cheap and not see me again.

Most of my clients are businessmen and their company pays for their hotels, not them personally. Why not add the price of valet to your out call rate to not misrepresent your rate?

I think I'd up my tip from $2 to $10 for that!

And a wink, a nudge, a hand on his back and a hearty handshake!

While I'm here:

How much should one tip the valet? At my healthcare, it's $7 for valet, so I tip $2.

If the valet service is $15 or $20, what do you tip? 20%?

HELP!

Suburban Bumpkin

I always tip 20% unless the service was over the top exceptional or the valet was really cute. Ok I'm joking about the last part...sort of. :p

I tip a straight 20%...UNLESS he is cute, yes cute matters!!! and I am not joking about being cute... OR unless he keeps my car at the front entrance, nicely backed in of course. Once and awhile I will go to a crowded club and the parking is out of control. When I come out, if my car is upfront and I can see that he has taken special car of it, then on a 20 dollar parking fee I will often slip him another 20...I am VERY particular about my car.

I once went to a restaurant on La Cienaga. When he took my car, as I turned away, he pulled out of the lot and headed north. He ended up parking the car 2 blocks away on the street. Now I understand that most these restaurants do not have enough parking for the entire night, so many of the cars will end up on the street, but that is not my problem. I told him that I could have done what he did, so why was I paying him 20 dollars for parking. I demanded he go get the car, put it on the lot, and when I came out, I told him I wasn't paying for parking at all. He said nothing and handed me the keys. Ok this is a litttle off topic, but I remembered the story and I got mad all over again...sorry.

Was the valet hot? I'm guessing he wasn't.
