We woke up this morning to such a foul odor, even the dogs had second thoughts on going out. The papers are reporting that the smell can be detected as far as Los Angeles, which would be something if the source of it is indeed the Salton Sea some 150 miles away. Supposedly a massive fish die-off, along with powerful winds from a heavy rainstorm, have brought the odor over the entire southern part of the state. Testing is being done, but it will be interesting if they determine that the Salton Sea is not to blame. Then the question might be-"who farted?"

Or, did some terrorists figure out a way to send chemicals across the state? Probably not, it's just that on 9-11 one thinks of such things.

Nothing in LA...we have had a mild 'Santa Ana' condition, and that might have kept the odor hugging the coast and sent it north to Ventura. I am more concerned about all this talk about 'The end of times" LOL

I thought it was much worse yesterday than today. My first thought when I went out with the dog at 6am was that our sewer line had broken. Then I recognized that 'eau de la Mer Salton.'

There is a strange odor here in New Jersey. Now I know some of you are thinking how does one recognize a strange odor in New Jersey. Well this odor is actually enticing, perhaps the autumnal weather has brought with it clean mountain air.
