I've gone through M4RN and noticed there are some cities with only a few escorts, and some don't really have any escorts at all. And some clients have repeatedly stated that while there are escorts, there's "no one to choose from" in their own city. Why do you think this is?

 

Here's a quick breakdown of some cities in the South:

 

Fort Myers: 18

Atlanta: 108, every other city in GA, 5 or less.

The entire state of AL has 7 escort listings.

Mississippi has 3, and 0 in the largest city.

Kentucky has 10.

Tennessee has 4 pockets of escorts, but as the largest Nashville has only 14.

 

These states have tourism destinations, older demographics, universities, large cities and large metro areas (even Jackson has a half-million people in the metro area). And no escorts?

I am surprised they have three, as someone who has stayed a few times in Natchez and Billoxi I can tell you now that men don't have sex with men in that state, in fact I was turned away from a hotel in Natchez once because I wanted a double room and they couldn't understand why two men would want a double bed. I've often wondered if these are prime for a tour. The one thing that bothers me is if these locations have very few escorts, how many clients could really be checking M4RN and RB for them. So, I have never wanted to risk travelling or wasting money on an ad with no yield.

 

 

Perhaps there are more escorts listed in these areas on sites like backpage or Adam4Adam. It would make more sense for these guys in the smaller markets tp pay $5-$30 as opposed to the $80-$120 for M4RN.

I think most single gay men, which most of the escorts are, pick a city to live in based on social life and acceptance verses job opportunities. A friend was recently told he would have to move to West Va. for his job. He just laughed and said he would quit first.

Yeah, I guess I can see that—along with Phil's comment above. I do get inquiries about when I'm coming to Arkansas or Kansas or Wyoming, but not a lot from any one particular place.

Don't forget that escorts in such places need a steady client base, which they may have already established, so they don't bother with the expense of advertising.

There are the "word of mouth" rent guys here, the ones that don't advertise but you can still have them if you know how and where to look. Most are of a decent to upper class - not trash. Some do, but most don't, rely on their fees as primary income.

 

Though I tend not to play in my own back yard (smaller towns, bigger mouths) and will import or play in someone else's yard when traveling.

Two things going on in the South:

 

1. It's the most conservative part of the country.

 

2. While it's a relatively populated region, we didn't clump up into huge cities here. We have many more smaller cities. As conservative as Alabama is, I bet if Mobile, Montgomery and Birmingham were one city, you'd have more escorts.

 

Atlanta is the only city in the Deep South that's large enough to have reached that tipping point.

I frequently lament that in a metro area of 6.5 million, combined with a poor economy (unemployment here is higher than the national average), yet we don't have more options among providers. At least I live near the busiest airport in the world which makes importing/exporting easier.

Nashville has become notorious for its prostitution stings (male & female). The police have aggressively pursued and busted both providers and clients, then paraded their names and (in some cases) photos in the local newspapers and/or television news. Several of the working guys based here refuse to do outcalls to Nashville hotels because of the frequency of vice stings. At least one provider I know and really like has stopped scheduling any appointments at all in the Nashville city limits and will only travel to meet clients in other cities/states. Total bummer. Fortunately, I often travel for work and get the opportunity to meet well-reviewed guys in other cities. Given the significant risks and hassle, I'm surprised there are as many as 14 men advertising in Nashville.

I know that ads placed on C-list are like blood in the water for sharks, but I still don't know of anyone who has been directly targeted via a site such as M4RN or Rentboy. In fact, that's one of the reasons I was so completely shocked when I was contacted by the govt. agency who found me via M4RN.
