While swapping anecdotes with an acquaintance, we started talking about dog friendly hotels. This brought back to mind an event from a few years ago. I was staying a hotel with my three dogs. The door was locked and "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, but the maid opened the door anyway and out ran my dogs. I was in the shower, heard the commotion and ran out, grabbing what I thought was a towel but which was a wash cloth. The maid, seeing me run naked from the bathroom closed the door and headed off to the next room. Panicked, I gave chase after the dogs, bareassed and with only a wash cloth for decency. I managed to get two of the dogs back into the room quickly and easily but the third, the late great but somewhat skittish Mr. Fred, 110 pounds of coal black dog, went running down the hall with me in hot pursuit. Several people came out of their rooms because of the barking and my calling for Mr. Fred. After his capture, I was trying to walk Mr. Fred back to the room but with a dog that big and unruly I had to put both hands on his collar to lead him back. I put the wash cloth over my shoulder. Needless to say I was a bit uncomfortable walking back to the room and really annoyed when I got back and the room door was closed and locked and the maid, who started all this, nowhere to be found. I was able to get one of the startled guests of the hotel, who was watching with mouth agape from his doorway, to call for security to open my door. Humbled, I stood waiting nude except for the washcloth. The security guard arrived, looked at me and looked at the dog, and just before he opened the door, he said: "Nice dog" and turned and left. I strive to do my job that professionally.

So, what was the most embarrassing situation you have found yourself in at a hotel.

By the way, I heard Kathy Griffin tell a similar story of her dogs being let out by the staff at a dog friendly hotel. You would think they would post a picture of a dog or some other marker to alert the staff to a dog in the room. But the maid ignored the "Do Not Disturb" so I guess another sign might not solve the proble.

PK, I got tears in my eyes laughing. The locked door and vanished maid would have finished me off, I'm afraid.

Thanks for sharing.

Huh! Wait until room service turns up as a Punk with a Blue Mohican, followed by his Cavalier King's Charles Spaniel. That's when you've checked into the Portobello Hotel!.

Can't top that one, PK. At least the maid didn't discover Mr. Fred at the foot of your bed smiling and lighting up a cigarette. http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

The resemblance between that dog and Mr. Fred, is uncanny. Granted Mr. Fred did not smoke and that was one reason that a dog his size lived to be almost sixteen. Such a sweetheart.

this has probably happened to dozens of people but this is my most embarrassing situation...

Many years ago when my bf and I were together, we were staying at this one hotel (I have a better story when we do strange and unusual hotel stories that is VERY good). So that morning, I was sucking my boyfriend's dick and was working him over pretty good and he was getting into it. Then we hear HOUSEKEEPING knock and I say to him not to worry because I locked the door. Well the door flies open and the maid is standing there and says "OH MY GOD! I'll come back!" and slams the door. My boyfriend afterwards was a little upset because we didn't finish but for me the mood was gone entirely.

Rubbish. A half-decent WetBack would have asked "how much" to watch. Where the fuck were you staying?

I don't know what to say about this comment Rich except it was a little bit more than I was expecting. I guess if postings from me inflame you that much then it's best if I don't post at all. Sorry.

PK -- I think we can all create a visual picture of that. thanks for sharing that.

OK, now I'm waiting for the guys who are into B&D and their stories of being tied to the bed when the maid walks in. Anyone?

I found this to be all too funny. Can't think of anything that would be funnier. I'm just trying to figure out how did a washcloth get confused with a towel LOL. Unless it was one of those giant oversized hand towels that can pass for being a towel...

Well unfortunately Mr. Fred, after a long a vigorous and reproductively busy life passed on about a year ago at the age of 15, almost 16. He was a street dog who took up residence in my back yard and who was so afraid of people that he would not get close enough to be brought in but he liked people enough to be around all the time and let you get about 3 feet from him. I was eventually able to adopt him after someone reported him as vicious and animal control caught him. He was scheduled for euthanizing as he was labeled unfit to adopt, though my wife and I wanted to adopt him. Finally we told the ASPCA that we would get him a trainer and that we would live with the decision of the trainer. This was after getting a letter from the mayor allowing him safe passage back to town. He was canine non grata because it took six months to capture him and that cost the town a bit of cash. Anyway, after one day with the trainer, the trainer called to say he did not think he could do anything with Mr. Fred. By day three, the trainer wanted to adopt him himself. Mr. Fred came home after two weeks and never left. A delightful if somewhat reserved dog that didn't require much and gave so much.

I still smile when I think of him. Now I have three dogs, Bonehead and Rusty and Sir Ben. When I had Mr. Fred, I had 7 dogs, Mr. Fred, Rusty, Sassy, Holly, Taylor, Baxter and Bailey. Rusty, at 15 is the last of the crew and is still living a sedate life in the suburbs. She was also at the hotel with Taylor and Mr. Fred.

Is there really a need for an ethnic slur? The ethnic slur just moved it from a not funny comment, (they all can't be gems) to an offensive one. While it seems unlikely that you really do have a Mexican BF, if you do, his sense of humor needs a bit of polish.

I haven't heard this term in 30 years. Ethnic slurs like this one wouldn't be uttered even in the boondocks or the backwater, let alone a cosmopolitan city.

Do you mean boondocks or wetbacks? Unfortunately, they are still uttered in many places, without my approval.

Oh puleeze! I wear my tags, such as Poof, Faggot or Queer with pride. :)

So, Paki or Nip are insulting but Aussie or Kiwi aren't? How about Eskimo (Inuit) or Red Indian (Native American)? Yankie or Redneck? Anyone? I've lived through the acceptable usage of ****** (the Board automatically censors the 'N' word), Coloured and Black. How about 'Gay'? Does that label mean you have to ponce around in a feather boa, drinking Pink Gins and pretending to be happy, even if you're not? As Larry Grayson said back in the early 1970's, "Gay? What's Gay about them? I've never seen such a miserable lot in my life.". Do you accept the word 'Gay' as your definitive label?

Am I racist? Hell, yes! I won't live long enough, but in my eyes it'll be a sad day when inter-racial breeding means there are no tall, blonde blue-eyed Scandinavians or small, black, frizzy-haired Pygmies. Do I think one is superior to the other? Absolutely not!

I support an 'orphanage' in Zimbabwe for kids with HIV. So far, none of them have made it to the age of fourteen. Antiretroviral drugs aren't available in that country. It isn't even possible to go shopping at Hamleys of Regent Street to buy them a box of soft toys at Christmas.

It didn't stop me supporting LifeCycle (the race between SF and LA) in a very small way when it was brought to my attention that some Escorts couldn't make their entrance fee, but what the fuck, I do feel a responsibility to support the richest country on earth's continuing refusal to provide AIDS treatments to their own citizens free-of-charge. Oh, and if you're Black and in New Orleans, and the President is G. Dubya Bush. don't expect any quick response if all that happens is that your home is under a few feet of water.

Mr. Quentin Crisp once said that "AIDS is a fad" and that "most homosexuals would find any excuse to be victims". He had no intention of living that role. Neither did the Drag Queens at the Stonewall bar. They were Real Men, not some Duracell Gym Bunny who thinks 'cum gutters' are all it takes to make him a 'Man'.

Yes, PK, I do have a WetBack boyfriend and no, he doesn't need a 'polish'. Unfortunately, we've never been able to make a full relationship work because neither of us is willing to relocate. My TexMex BF speaks three languages fluently and on my last visit questioned at the supper table if-and-when my Spanish vocabulary might actually expand beyond "Hola!". I told him that I'd no intention of learning an entire language just so I could instruct the Poolboy. His entire extended family still laugh about my saying that. Why? I guess because I confronted a prejudice that they know exists but is only mentioned behind their backs.

If anyone wants to worship at the altar of political correctness, go ahead. IMHO it's part of the problem, not any kind of solution.

Sticks-n-stones,

May break my bones,

But names,

Will never hurt me.
