Probably like some others, I haven't decided to grow up yet but during all this time from long ago through this morning, policeman, fireman, various working guys who knew how to do THINGS and fix THINGS, like my dad, an attorney, a preacher but only late in the game, a pilot. My mom says I took things apart starting at a very young age; she has never mentioned whether I put them back together again or not. :) Thus far it seems that being a pilot might be it. I have been doing that for 43 years and, likely, I will stick to it and not be altogether wishy washy. As John Glenn said during his first orbit around the earth, a little bit more and I wil be on top. In a few more years, I might get the hang of flying. :)

Best regards,

KMEM

Munroe confided that he always wanted to be an Escort when he grew up. I guess we're in for a long wait... :p

Opera singer. Went to school for it, some said I had the talent, but I just lacked that enormous drive to sacrifice everything else for that career.

lol - with a screenname derived from "Liebestod," I'm not surprised. ;-)

I think from the time I was 8 or 9 and had started piano lessons, I think I knew I wanted to be a musician. When I started falling in love with opera when I was about 11, I had definite aspirations to be an opera singer - and in my teens I tried to teach myself how to sing arias, etc. And though I love to sing and still do to a small extent, I eventually came to terms with the fact that my voice was just never going to be as strong or polished as I wanted it to be, and nowhere near as stong as my piano skills, and I fell into musical directing/vocal coaching instead - where my love and knowledge of singing has actually helped a lot. So I guess it all worked out, lol.

But like gcursor, I do remember a time in my youth when I was fascinated by magic, and used to put on little magic shows for my family and friends - I think my parents STILL have embarrassing stories about my failed tricks, etc. I also remember a phase where I was obsessed with TV game shows, and used to create my own home versions, and then I'd play MC for family/friend "contestants." Ah, childhood...;-)

From the time I was in the fourth grade I wanted to be a school teacher. I just didn't know what level or what subject I wanted to teach. I ended up teaching Spanish, Photography and Art History for thirty-six years at the high school level. I loved every minute of it and would do the same thing all over again if I had my life to re-live. In this I have been fortunate beyond belief.

I wanted to be a demographer when I grew up: as a child, I spent hours poring over census data, and could tell you the populations and rankings of most cities and states. Sounds dorky, huh?

Charlie,

That 'thunk' you just heard was my jaw hitting the floor. I was just about to respond by hoping you'd put this shameful fact behind you after discovering sex, but then remembered that years ago I got completely engrossed reading a UK census. So, yes, first impression it does sound kinda dorky, but actually it's not. In fact, I think it's brilliant! :)

I wanted to be a psychologist. My cousin was and I looked up to her a great deal. However, in college I started studying voice while in a chamber group and was quietly but firmly urged towards opera. Ive never looked back. Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, and Meyerbeer romanced the psychology right out of me.

When I was young, I dreamt about meeting the finest, most wonderfully able man in every sense, beautiful, social, understanding, witty, lovely, kind, well-mannered, sensitive, masculine and wildly successsful at whatever he did. And never did lol. So, I soldier on into my late forties, and hope for the best, do my best, and feel just a little pain that it never happened. Happy 4th all!

Never give up hope for that dream, happyguy2. He may still be out there. It just may be taking you longer.

And a happy 4th to you.

If I ever do grow up-- I want to be rich-- or maybe just -- Rich. With Rich as the adjective I could travel, immerse myself in a foreign country, hire all the escorts I want without fear of bankruptcy, etc, etc etc. On the other hand it wouldnt be bad being Rich ( the person) either. I love England, he apparently pals around with devastatingly muscular and handsome people of the male, persuasion, and ( I'm assuming here) has an English accent. I love English accents. I've always wanted one!!

Gman, I'm immensely flattered. I've PM'd you my phone number and Skype ID, just in case you ever feel like checking out my Harry Potter accent! Oh, and no Glutes, my number doesn't start with a San Antonio area code.
