The Arts Forum is hereby opened! So many of us love the arts, or a tangent thereof, that I have high hopes for this forum. We have tried to include a broad section of arts, but as time goes on, we will adapt to members requests. I have a secret hope that this forum will be an intelligent exchange of ideas and information, without rancor or name-calling. Surely I will be lucky in that endeavor, will I not? (Rhetorical question!)

Type of posts?

Lucky,

Do you see this forum as consisting just of reviews and evaluations, pro & con, of different performances, exhibitions, CD/DVD releases, etc? I ask because I want to get info on what shows are coming to Chicago in May, but I'm not yet sure if that's the kind of question you want to encourage.

Thanks for your work in starting up this forum. I predict it will have a great success. You heard it here!

Now the arts are a broad spectrum of endeavors. Certainly the theater would be discussed here. One would assume, art, sculpture. literature. Movies it would seem would make the list but what of porn movies? Television? Just trying to get a feel as to how far out into the field you want to go and how deep into the darker arts.

Good luck with this section. I will be a regular reader if not a regular contributor.

See if I had read the heading outside I would have known that TV is not considered appropriate for here, though clearly there are artistic presentations on television. Good luck once again.

Lucky, thanks for suggesting this and thanks to Daddy for agreeing to provide the forum. I look forward to reading, what I am sure will be, a diverse series of opinions on any given performance, book, symphony performance etc.

Just my opinion, but I would rather not see television reviews or porn reviews as part of this forum.

Books

We've added some old book threads because they remain of interest and are often available at the library. Other old threads that are not likely to be relevant anymore will be left in place as they are.

Thanks!

Didn't expect it to materialize so quickly! At any rate, I started the first opera-related thread... nothing controversial... I just wanted to share some thoughts with others. Hopefully we will keep things civil and respectful even when opinions are divergent.

Sculpture? That seems pretty esoteric. What about architecture then? Pottery? Pop art (e.g., Elvis on velvet)? Crafts (e.g., Raul's beautiful paddles)? I would actually vote for as broad a range of the arts as possible, but I think most erotic art is probably more suitable for the lounge.
