In a thread in the Deli, a poster notes that he posts here under one screen name, but submits reviews under a different name.

I've always thought that detracted from the total information content available to readers. I post and review under the same name. What AdamSmith likes or dislikes in the forums will illuminate what he likes or dislikes in his reviews, and vice versa.

But I wonder what others think. What are the arguments in favor of maintaining separate screen identities for posting vs. reviewing?

Simple. It's an attack vector that can be easily closed (or just never opened).

It is not uncommon, as you know quite well, for a review to elicit cat calls, verbal car bombs, or open hostility if the review, the reviewer, or the escort is disputed, disliked, or otherwise questioned. (Just whisper the name BN and some around here go absolutely giddy in their lauding/loathing, depending on which side they're on.)

It is fair not to want to be in the middle of a catfight when your only sin is providing information.

I've stopped reviewing under my posting name because the last several reviewed escorts reported that immediately after the review was posted they were peppered with questions about me. While it weirds me out plenty (and as I said I've opted out), it's really unfair to the escorts. The reviews should be about them, not about me.

That particular frequency is easy to close.

I usaually

I have used several different handles... I didn't know what a handle was at that time so I made something up every time I wrote a review. I might use my id next time.

When I first started using this site, I used various handles in my reviews, but when asked whom I had reviewed previously, it was too confusing; Hooboy himself asked me to be consistent. So I started using the same handle in both the reviews and the MB.

When I read a review, I am more like to find it credible if it is by someone whose name I recognize from the MB. However, I think deej makes a very good point, and in future I think I will try to keep my two identities separate.

separate identities

I think this is referring to a comment I made on another thread. I always use one handle when I review and a different one when I post. There are a few escorts for whom I'm a "regular" who have figured out both and the link, but I've generally considered that it's better to keep them separate most of the time. I've posted enough reviews over the years using the other handle that regular readers may have figured out my tastes, in any event.

I use the same name in both places hoping that people will pepper the escorts with questions about what the Purplekow is really like. It increases my cachet.

I agree with Adam that the review by a known poster is likely to feel like a more accurate one, though I am not sure that is really true. Seems your friends are just as likely to lie to you as a stranger is.

I really use the same name as I couldn't thing of another one I liked as much.

Screen Name DRAMA!

Personally I really don't see the point in Different Screen Names!

I've always all the way back to the HOOBOY Days looked for Creditability!

IF You use 2 Names your not all that Creditable to me! I know there have been many over the Years "Posters & Sex Workers" who have... BUT it really seems pointless not to mention a little Devious!

In my case, I posted a review prior to joining the forum. By the time I joined the forum, another poster had started posting under the same ID as my review handle, so I created a different ID for use in the forum. First-time reviewers are often discredited (and a plethora of other words starting in "dis"), so it made sense to maintain separate names for the review handle and the forum ID.
