What a day to sit back and watch non-stop sports yesterday in HD. College football, baseball headed for play-offs, but it was the US Tennis Open in Flushing NY that really caught my eye! Meet John Isner who beat Andy Roddick, just gorgeous in every way...

He is so cute

I am sorry Andy Roddick lost. I am his fan. However, when I watch Andy play ,I want go out there and get his shirt tailored so he doesn't have to adjust his shirt often. He seems awfully uncomfortable in it. Does he know that his muscles are affected by his ill fitting shirt? I don't know why his coach and his trainer have not noticed this simple fact. When Andy starts to sweat a lot it gets worse. Look how comfortable Roger is with his tailored shirt. Every part of his shirt is tailored in a way to give him maximum flexible movement. Oh well I hope this cute guy John Isner do well. I want to see him play more. He is so dreamy...

It was a great match! American tennis at least has some promising talent coming up.

Talk about wardrobe malfunctions! Have you seen Nadal picking out his wedgie?

How silly of Nadal, doesnt he know there are thousands out there just aching to undo his wedgie?

Steady there, PK. :D Those stadium cops are likely to misunderstand your innocent attempts to come to Nadal's aid.

OK, during the rain delay I will massage either player!

He must be in pain.

Not if he's quick about it. :)

Nadal's routine~~

I have watched Nadal play tennis for several years and have come to the conclusion that he goes through a "routine," specifically before he serves. He picks at his wedgie, as one jposter said, then he touches his hand/fingers to his nose, then he touches/arranges the hair above each ear, then he bounces the ball a specific number of times. I suspect he does it without even being thinking about it---it's just something he does, or feels he HAS to do before serving. I've also observed, in the past, not during this Open, that he arranges his water bottles, just so, on the sidelines, during breaks. I don't think he is a full-blown obsessive compulsive, but close to it.

Athletes are some of the most superstitious people on earth, and he is a super-athlete. This seson he looks a little thinner, and his upper body a little less developed, but so great to look at and watch.

Tennis players are coached to perform a 'routine' before a serve. It's really a mental preparation exercise in order to get the player to focus and to clear his head of extraneous thoughts. Golfers, especially, are prepped on using a pre-shot routine, so if you watch the pro golfers on the tee box, they'll practice swing the same number of times, they'll step forward or backward. It looks random, but they do exactly the same thing all the time.

Now, that being said, Nadal picking at his underwear is probably not ideal for the television audience, though nobody on this forum is going to complain.

Nadal was really obsessive compulsive about the placement of the water bottles a few years ago (I once saw him even go back to his seat to replace one in exactly the right spot when it fell over and a ballboy stood it up again), but he seems more relaxed about that routine now. He also seems to be wearing his shorts a little looser this year, and doesn't clutch at them as often.

Well, it's not tennis, but in baseball, hunky player Mark Texeira of the Yankees adjusts his 'cup" more often than any player I have other seen. In my fantasy, his equipment is just too big to stay hidden behind that shield.

Nick Swisher, an outfielder, goes through this long and annoying ritual before each at bat, even looking to the heavens to thank his grandmother.

Derek Jeter loves to stick his butt out on an inside pitch, and Alex Rodriguez, well, he just looks hunky in the tightest uniform in baseball.
