I knew certain breeds were prone to specific genetic problems, but I had no idea how narrow the gene pool has become for many modern breeds. Seems like this is a topic that at the least deserves discussion here in the States as well.

New companion.

 

I've been giving some serious consideration in getting my Beagle (Buster-Boo!) a new friend but I'm not sure what breed I want though a Great Dane is high on my list. BUT, that would be like having a pony in the house. That said, I really think my dog would like a new friend and companion while I'm away and it would make me feel so much better knowing that he has a friend.

Great Danes are wonderful dogs but tend to have a short life span. Right now i am sending out vibes to the world that I am ready for a new member of my canine family and in the past, when I opened myself up to it, the right dog came along. I know you are probably intending to go the rescue route, but if not, I strongly encourage you to do so. Petango.com – Meet Finnley, a 2009 years 2 months Great Dane available for adoption in Carrollton, TX Is this nearby. He is not quite ready, still putting on weight after his rescue.

Is there something offensive to you about a simple reminder to click a site to help feed homeless animals? How about if the animals sing opera, would that change your mind? I would think with a new forum for your passion you wouldn't begrudge others a single thread. So, even if you aren't the only one, why would you bring it up?

Purplekow I don't think Lucky meant any harm. I believe he is just expressing his opinion about a thread. I love this thread~~~ Those cats and dogs are so cute. I think they can think like us so smart. Wonder what happens to them when they die. It always makes me wonder. It would be so sad if my cat dies..
