New Review Format

Is anyone else having difficulty reading the newest reviews. I really like the additional info that is now being provided, but the presentation makes it much harder to quickly scan a review. Maybe a blank line between key sections and/or the use of two columns for the "short answer" items would help.

 

Also, seems like precise ages are out the window. I know that the age info was always questionable, but "20's" doesn't do it for me (in my case, I like guys in the 18-30 range, but I like to know what part of that spectrum each guy occupies). If a guy want's to lie about his age, that's up to him (and a guy in his "30's" can still pretend to be in his "20's" anyway). I realize that this is supposed to be the reviewers best guess as to the guy's age, but I'd like to see something more specific. Maybe there could be smaller age brackets, like 18-20, 21-24, 25-30, 31-35, 36-40, then 50's, 60's.

 

Just my 2 cents. I love this site and am really greatful for the information that is presented here, so I can't bitch too much (it's just hard to teach old dogs like me new tricks).

For me, it is too much information and much of it, useless. Also, the opposite of passive or submissive is dominant--NOT DOMINATE.

Once again HOOBOY and CO has tried to provide us with as much info as possible and once again many will not be happy. There will be some Beta testing as it goes along I am sure cause HOOBOY wants only the best for us. I just hope he is taking care of himself and having fun too. HUGS Chuck

My fingers are tired as I have posted a number of reviews in the last 24 hours of NYC guys I met during my recent trip. I noticed that one of the improvements in the site upgrade was a form for posting escort reviews that simplifies the process. I would like to ask other guys who have used this new form, what their feedback would be if we could offer suggestions to HooBoy and Daddy without getting bitchy or whining.

My thoughts are that while I really appreciate the speeded up format, the preset choices in some categories don't list enough options to cover all circumstances, such as;

facial hair has categories that allow for beards, smooth, stubble, moustache, goatee, etc. but in one case the only facial hair one of my guys had was a soul patch.

Another area is body hair. You can select almost any item that would apply, but only one item, such as in addition to smooth, shaved, hairy options, you can select chest hair, mild fuzz (or something like that) but you have no way to indicate that the guy had moderate chest hair, AND happy trail, And hairy legs, AND hairy butt (or hairy/smooth/shaved butt).

there is also place to indicate weight at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of drop down menus, especially when you are doing multiple reviews, but if I were going to make a suggestion, again with out whining, being bitchy or making it sound like I am not grateful for the improvements overall, I would like to see some categories include a blank preset where you can write in what applies when an option is not present in the presets. Of course you can still make the additional observations in the review section which is what I did, but it would be handy to have the write in option in the scroll down menus. I know nearly nothing about programming so I am not at all sure that what I am suggesting is possible or even how much effort it would be. And I am not even sure if I have put this in the right forum, except it's force of habit for me lately to put my posts here.

Hope that HooBoy , Daddy and everyone involved in the format upgrade gets it that I am not meaning to complain. Just an uninformed opinion.

Anyone else have ideas or feedback?

I suspect Daddy is heading for a format where each of those dropdowns is actually searchable. (i.e. STATE="CA" and BODY TYPE="twink", etc.) It's going to take time to make sure the right categories are covered.

 

However, I'd suggest all posts on this topic be made in Daddy's forum. I suspect he's a lot more likely to see them there.

I was surprised with the new format when I submitted a recent review. I do like the pulldown menus but also found them lacking. For example, my visit was an "out call" and my only option was "Out Call Only". I really wanted "Out Call with Me". I don't know if the escort does In Calls or if they might actually prefer them.

 

I also noticed a formatting problem. There needs to be a "hard" return to put "Lived Up:" on a separate line from "Physical Comments". Same thing for "Lived Up Comments:" and "Experience:" Any chance to correct these formatting problems on reviews currently in queue?

 

I tend to agree with Lucky that the old format was easier to quickly look at the review. (I don't always want to read the entire review in-depth.) Plus, I'm too old to handle too much change in my life. :+

Yes, they are more difficult to read, partly because of increased info, partly because of new format -- old dog and new tricks thing :+ .

DITTO... Not all info is of the same importance to a given reader. Putting the info in blocks of similar data separated by blank lines would allow easier skimming (on blocks rather than lines) to find the info of interest.

 

Another suggestion is to put the reviewer handle with his review history near the top to set validity flag indicator for the info that follows. It is of interest to me if I'm reading a review by Traveller, DickHO, Marc Anthony or a first time reviewer.

 

As long as I'm setting out a wish list, I would like to see the type of service offered high up too. I'm personally not interested in massage or non-anal services, nor the average top for that matter. It would help me to quickly identify the reviews of interest.

I agree again that the brackets are much too coarse. (Also, I suspect that many escorts might be concerned as much or more about this while may others may prefer it.) Five year brackets seem reasonable: 18-22, 23-27,28-32, 33-37.... Sort of straightens out the case of that 29 year old escort that never ages...

Well, this old dog can learn new tricks, but for me two of the MOST IMPORTANT items are age and cock size. I'm NOT INTERESTED in any kind of range in either category. (It makes a BIG difference to me whether a guy is 18 or 22, so, no, a 5 year age range doesn't work).

 

With all due respect, what in the HELL is the point of changing the format in those categories?? "Improvements" in format, IMHO, should result in more info, not less. The new format gives me/us less info in those two areas.

 

Please, PLEASE change it back, at least for age and cock size!!!!!!!

That was my first reaction also... and still is in a perfect world. However, in a GREAT MANY cases I think those to stats are very suspect in terms of accuracy or honesty. Dick size is often 'inflated' either intentionally by escorts or probably unintentionally by enthusiastic clients. I have seen 'inflated' dick sizes quoted in reviews of escorts that I had seen 'in the flesh'. Age is not always easy to estimate. If you look at ages for an escort in his reviews, they are often scattered. Again, I have known escorts who are older than they claim to be or that clients estimate for them -- and some of these do look younger. And some clients overstate ages too. I have known more than one or two guys who were considerably older than I would have guessed.

 

So I take these stat values as rough indicators not more accurate than an inch for dicks(always overstated) and two to 5 years for ages (+/- ).

 

This policy seems to be consistent with many comments made when the dick size or age issue pops up in a thread. Your experience may differ.

Hey TY, I agree with you about the "inflating" and the "shaving."

 

BUT...if an escort advertises or a client estimates, say, 8 inches, my guess is that in many cases (most cases?) reality is closer to 7 inches than it is to 6 inches.

 

Similarly, if an escort advertises or a client estimates, say, 22, reality (or the perception thereof)is probably closer to 25, than to 29.

 

Clearly, everyone's dealing with fuzzy math here, but my point was and still is...the old format at least TRIED to be specific, while the new format goes in the opposite direction.

I also find the new format less user-friendly for the reader. There are certain features of prime importance to me, and now they're buried in a long column that includes many irrelevant topics. I thought the previous format was a good one.

no joke, i have given up reading the reviews. way too much effort needed for something that was suppose to be fun and informative. i just read the message center. the new format for reviews are a designers nightmare. there should be a two column with a for the data and then the summary & about you under neasth followed by a page break <HR>

I have to agree. The design is very poor. I only read a review if I know the person or it's a city I'm in or near. Otherwise, I stick to the MC.

 

Not a user-friendly design in the least.

I have actually given up submitting reviews of escorts but do mention good experiences from time to time in the MC when it seems relevant to the discussion. But looking at the newly formatted submissions I noticed that "weight" no longer appears. I always used that as a good indicator of the body type I am looking for and think that the category "body type" doesn't completely compensate. After all, one person's "swimmer type" is another person's "skinny".:o

Best part is that it will make all those "first time reviewers' work a bit harder. However from my point of view, I will probably submit fewer reviews.

I agree that weight is important for the reason you mention. I'd like to see both weight and body type to help give a hopefully more balanced assessment.

I too agree with most of the replis in this thread. It's very difficult to read the new format.

 

I do want to give HooBoy a pat on the back for upgrading the review form. The new sections are welcomed in my book. Now it's time to work on the layout to accomadte all of the information.

 

Out of all the people who visit this site I'm sure somebody knows Dreamweaver or Frontpage well enough to give him a few tips.
