On the assumption that most escorts in London or Amsterdam service primarilly the tourist market, has anyone noticed a decline in hourly fees requested as the dollar has depreciated against the Euro or the Pound? Has anyone tried to negotiate for lower rates on that basis?

Interesting assumption. Do most New York escorts serve the tourist market as well? The euro must really be cramping their styles!:)

RE: EXchange Rate Volatility

My impression from past conversations with escorts is that New York escorts get most business from internal U.S. tourists, but that London and Amsterdam escorts get most business from "foreign" escorts of whom a large percentage are American. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to hear how these significant exchange rate fluctuations affect pricing decisions by consumers and producers.

My view is that you are making a wrong assumption, massively wrong.

There is a huge local market in London. The number of escorts seems to expand, rates are fairly high (but negotiable) and business isn't linked to the tourist season.

If your assumption were correct, the decline in tourism after 9/11 should have caused business to slump and rates to fall - neither has happened

I agree that it may well depend on the escort, but most escorts who I have hired in London in the last 2 years have complained about the effect of 9/11 on their business. They say: (a) they are hurt by fewer tourists in general; and (b) they are hurt by fewer American tourists, in particular, because the UK and EU-based clients don't tend to be as generous with tips.

RE: Exchange Rate Volatility

I accept that some escorts do have more American and other visitors as clients....but my point is that there is a very substantial domestic client-base for the escorts working in London.

There are various websites and publications in London, carrying escort ads, which I think visitors do not access readily. Also, I know of many escorts who prefer not to advertise widely.

Your point about tipping is well made, but contentious in the UK! It's a cultural difference: in Europe, the price for a service is simply that, and tipping extra is not expected. Of course, working guys will be glad to get more money....but it does have inflationary consequences for domestic clients.

What amazes me is the volatility generally in what the client is expected to pay. Many escorts in London now advertise a price of £120 per hour, whereas if you go to Villagianni it's only £70, and the boys get precisely half of that!

It's cheaper in Spain, but just as variable. I think the Arrowmen agency charges 150 euros per hour, the 'going rate' for a privately hired escort for an hour in your hotel room is 100 euros, but if you go to the Adonis house-of-boys there's a price list on the waiting room wall which roughly translated says (for an hour) Massage 40 euros, 'French' 50 euros, and 'Everything' 60 euros! There are some nice boys there, and they've got a very good website; Adonis-Madrid.com.

At the bottom end you'll find a guy who'll have full sex for 40 euros in the Adan sauna, but it would make it much easier to see what you're getting if they'd invest in some light bulbs which were brighter than candles!

So much for the theory! I just had an escort ask for 140 Pounds to come to my hotel. I have never paid more than 120 Pounds before so far from prices coming down, if this experience is representative then they may actually be increasing!

Hi,

I have built websites for quite a few escorts in London. I can tell you that the 'average' escort now asks for 120 pounds outcalls. People who are in demand or who thinks of themselves as 'above average' ask for anything between 120 to 150. For that kind of money you are more likely to find a 'true professional', on the other hand people who have just started or are doing some escorting on the side because they need the cash have lower rates (some as low as 80 pounds), but they tend to be less professional. (I am talking about professional, as being aware they are running a business rather then seeing escorting as a source of 'easy money'.).

Most people I know would be flexible for a regular visitor from the US or for an American who books a long session (overnight, week-end, etc.) but I do not think you should count on it.
