Hey kids, we upgraded the MESSAGE CENTER software.

There are a lot of new features to get used too, including rating posters and threads.

Please take a moment over the weekend to read the FAQ and discover the new power you've been given.

Enjoy!

I HATE IT-its too jumbled up and the rating system i GUARANTEE will cause problems in the future depending on the type of thread/post and who the originator is.My 2 cents(WORTHLESS I KNOW :()

Anything new is hard to get used to, but we like new "things" and getting "hard" is fun.

I like the new software; it took me a few minutes to adjust and find things but it is pretty much like the old one, except I did have to log in, which I hope I will not have to do everytime.

Also, finding my private inbox was a bit more complicated. I hope everyone can find theres, otherwise you will miss your private messages.

Bravo Hoo!!;-)

Thank you, Hoo!

Hey Hoo,

YOU ROCK! :*

I just love it! The site is still very easy to navigate. There're so many nice new faetures. And the emoticons --- now they're so handy! :-)

Thank you!

Once you make sure that your inbox is activated, you still get the red flag at the top of the page when there's a new message in it and you can click on that and go right over.

I agree that rating other posters could be an invitation to a little ugliness, but I think that it is offset my the avatars. If we can all get them set up, I think that seeing them will not only help us to keep who's saying what clear in our minds (almost said straight) but will also help keep things nice and civil when we are looking each other in the face or whatever. But I would like to see the possibilities of premade avatars explored a bit more. I just came from the Harry Potter site where I chose my familiar's body, eyes, hat or hair, etc, etc. If we could somehow tie in something like that for making avatars, it would help those who need it to keep their privacy while still playing along. And I know that if there was a customizable teddy bear avatar available, I'd be using that til I get the right kind of picture ready to link into. :D

>PS. The software also assigned me into a group or something

>named "team" (or am I supposed to reveal which group I'm

>in?). What's that all about?

Daddy confirms in another thread that "Team" means unmoderated.

There are four groups:

Admin (HooBoy and Daddy)

Moderators (Barry, bottomboykk, Losgatan, Me)

Team (unmoderated)

Members (moderated)

The only place this is really spelled out in the FAQ is in the topic "Why are there so many different types of forums?" :-(

I am too old for this. I hate it! Every time I finally figure out to use this site, you change it and make it more complicated than before. I can't possibly remember what all those icons mean, so I am constantly going back and forth to the FAQS trying to figure things out.

What is the point of "rating" posters? Isn't there enough slashing and stroking of one another in the messages themselves? What is a rating supposed to mean to me as either a poster or a reader?

Do I now have to log on every time I post a message? That's a step backward.

Grrr

Your saying: "An old dog can't learn new tricks"....hummmm does that mean that if a new cute boy comes along, you ignore him?

Yes, it's new...Yes, it's changed...Yes, there's problems. But YES, there is a lot of new stuff that's improves the board.

It's an idea that comes from slashdot fame...and it does tend to make people thing twice before going into full flame mode. We'll try it for a while and it it doesn't work out, Hoo can turn it off at any point.

>Do I now have to log on every time I post a message? That's

You ALWAYS had to log on to post a message. But I suspect that your missing the "Log me on automatically" option. Goto the "User Menu" / "Edit your preference" / "Automatically login when you return" and turn it on.

It has to be to mute controversy. If so, much of the value of this site will be lost. If the response from HooBoy is "Well you rate the escorts so this is only fair," I have no problem with that. But,

I wonder if the consequences have really been thought out. For me, this site is interesting only if people can argue back and forth on occasion.

Hoo:

My post yesterday about this topic also contained a question that seems to have been edited off, about the little tiny head like icons to the right of some peoples names? What gives? Did I ask a security question? I later reposted my understanding of what these meant, but that posting too is gone. What gives?

Johnny....no one is editing your posts. As Hoo stated in a post in this Forum we are having some problems with the software and Daddy is working on it.

Messages in the queue are being release using the normal procedure but not all of them are making it to posting. We don't know why and it's driving us up a wall too. Please be patient.

As Barry says, nobody is doing editing. The board software seems to have a few personality issues at the moment and Daddy is working on it.

The icon after your name denotes which "group" you're in. I explained the groups earlier in this thread.

By the way, your post is still there. It just slid way down the list because the question was asked and answered and it was a relatively busy day on other threads.

Unfortunately, I can't find any of the places or icons that you send me to, like the "User" where I change preferences, or the "Mark". In fact, I can't even seem to move back and forth between windows, and I'm getting so frustrated I'm ready to just bail out.

DeeJay:

The post I am referring to is NOT there. Nor is my additional question which was part of my original post made yesterday.

Yes, there must be a problem with the new software which I had hitherto raved about. However, this attitude that you are always right bothers me. You are not. I was simply pointing out a discrepency in the postings, not understanding why mine was missing, and there are now admissions that there is a problem, so unless you know more about it and are willing to read carefully all the above posts, then be careful what you say.
