Meanwhile, ChelseaGuys, who used to rent their boys at $300/hr., advertises $250. rates on RENTBOY. But the Chelsea stable, once prime, looks bleak these days. I wouldn't get with some of them if they were free.

$300/a shot, as it were, is where I disembark. A handjob, a lot of imagination and a few toys will do.

JT, it's not just happening in NYC. I'm seeing more and more ads in South Florida for $300 - especially for twinks, but also in general. And I've seen ads for this rate in various cities across the US.

Hey JT the same is true here in Southern California. More glory to these guys if they can find clients willing to pay $300 per hour. The one thing I know for sure is that I am NOT going to be one of them. As far as I'm concerned $300 an hour is absurd; frankly I think even $250 is too high but I have on occasion paid it and will probably continue to do so. I will just stick with my regulars who maintain their original rates with me.

Indubidably..I think 2007 might be the Wake Up Call to the "Well I Think I am Worth It Crowd" ...

YOU GUY'S ARE RIGHT...Even $250 for what..40 Mins of Sex on a Good Day Out of 60 MINS..is waay out of line!

They will find they are "Not Worth It" Overall..as will The Deep Pockets in Time! Most Deep Pockets didn't Get them from being Stupid about Finances! LOL

THE $200-220 Guy's Will end up "Reaping The Rewards" of Newbie & Repeat Clients...

:p :P :p

I have to agree. I was going to try a new guy and I kept getting increasing rates every email that I received so I dropped it. I certainly support their getting higher rates if they can get it. But I will stick with my regulars at the older rates. I just don't think it's worth it.

Hell, there was a guy on my block that gave outstanding blow jobs for fifty cents. And he had great reviews.

He wasn't allowed to do overnights though. ;-)

Seriously, I think there will always be different segments in the escort market, and there will be clients and escorts in every price range. I expect we'll all still be gettin' some in 2007!

Have any of you guys experienced the following?

I recently emailed an escort to inquire what his fee would be for a get together including lunch or dinner and two hours of play time. He responded that his fee would be $800. I emailed him back politely stating that his fee was more than I was willing to pay. I also thanked him for his time and wished him good luck. The next thing I know I received an email from him asking me what I would be willing to pay. I DID NOT respond. I do not expect to bargin with escorts and resent being asked to do so. I also do not espect to bargin with my doctor, my dentist, my attorney, and my auto mechanic and would resent being asked to do so.

So do you guys agree or disagree with my attitude?

Bargaining with your attorney? Sure, why not? You'd be surprised how often that happens.

As for the dentist, he knocked $150 off just for asking if there was a better rate since I wasn't using insurance.

Car mechanics often lower their price when you start walking out the door. Merchants often discount upon request or for multiple purchases. So what is so sacred about an escort's rate? Shouldn't he try for the top rate and have the option to discount when he wants to?

But one of your favorites, that won't negotiate, wanted to charge me $350 per hour. How do I get the Epigonos discount "my friend" ;) I would have seen him if he had said $300 per hour and I was promising a 2 hour meeting.

Haven't been to NYC for awhile but I remember the uproar here when people there started charging $250 per hour. I think some of the best escorts in the country are in California but it seems $300 plus is becoming the norm there.

Lucky covered most of it. But why not bargain with your doctor? Or at the very least shop around.

The heart of the new HSA plans the Bush administration wants everyone to have is that it puts healthcare decisions in your hands rather than getting some cookie-cutter care with pre-planned rates and coverage.

< So do you guys agree or disagree with my attitude? >

I can see how you might react that way, and I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer. How you feel about the escort’s first interaction with you, and how you react to it, is an important part of the experience you’ll have. When someone comes down in price right away, it may make you feel that he was playing you in the first place, and that it may continue. Or it may make you feel that he really needs the money, which adds a different dimension.

I’ve never bargained, figuring it’s up to each of us to figure out what the hookup is worth to us, and I don’t like to spend a lot of energy on the mechanics of getting together. If I really wanted to get together with the guy and thought his price was too high, I’d probably say something like, “Well, I planned on taking you for a nice dinner, and $500 is usually the most I pay for two hours with a guy, but you are a major hottie and my little head is yelling at me to make it $600. What should I tell the little fella?” That way, we could have a little fun with it, and both our egos would still be intact.

Most of the time, I’m willing to take a risk on the first meeting, figuring it’s just the price of finding out who’s behind door number one. If it’s someone I want to take home with me again and again, then we can work out the details of future hookups, with a little more knowledge of one another.

My two cents.

Chemistry is a real issue for me. If I negotiate much then it is no longer a fun experience. My fear becomes that the experience will be less than ideal "due to the negotiation". As many of said, there are various price points and if one is not right then someone else will fill the void. It is a free market after all. . .

I can't speak for one of his favorites ( ;) ) but I know that personally a dinner date vs. two straight hours in the bedroom make a difference :)

I would never turn this into the Bargaining thread again and we all know where we think my response is going .... but you're wrong :)

Stuff like this is the one place where I completely believe in bargaining for extended periods of time. He quoted you a rate and you respectfully declined based on the price.

He in turn asked you what you think would be more fair. You gave HIM the option to see if he'd be willing to meet with you. He wasn't under an obligation. He was taking a chance to see what is considered more reasonable etc.

Here's an analogy that will I'm sure bite me on the ass for YEARS to come but I feel is applicable in this situation:

You went shopping on Priceline and found a hotel you wanted. The rate was out of your range so you didn't purchase it. You are now being given the option to name your own price and the website can give you the option of taking your offer or declining it.

The hotel in a particular city is a unique experience that they have their price and the right to set where they please. But I know I've been able to stay at the Venetian for $350/night when they were quoting $500. Just a thought ;)

An escort may post higher rates because he is after a certain type of client, and if he doesn't get many clients willing to pay his higher feels he may be willing to negociate his fees. He may sense that you have a great personality, yet don't have a budget, that allows you to hire him, so he's willing to give a little for you.

Apparently the old $250 an Hour is now becoming $300 an Hour at least in Some NYC ADS.. $300 sure isn't going to have them lining up!

BUT Great for the $220 Studs, of which there are quite a few now!

If this Scenario continues, alot of Guys will be working off of "Real Short Lists" for 2007!

Except for those who Luv the Name DUMB with Deep Pockets! LOL :p :P

This reminds me of something my boss said when I was working my first job after university. This was a high end department store in the Deep South owned by a family that emigrated from Poland some decades earlier. I worked for one of the co-owners as a buyer's assistant. This is a direct quote:

"Remember, only the Gentiles pay retail."

Some may take offense to such a statement this day and age but he let out a laugh that to this day I can well recall. I learned many other pearls of wisdom about life from the old man over the next couple of years.

I NEVER hire for 1 hour either, but $700 for 2 hours was out of my price range. Glad it is within yours.

I also think $300 per hr is unrealistic and would not even consider paying it.

I believe that one of the reasons many escorts (not all) feel they can charge this is because they are out of touch with the reality of what their client has to do earn that kind of money.

They may have started escorting very early in life and have little experience at what it is like to earn a living.

Many clients do not even earn $300 A DAY let alone an hour, in their own jobs. And what ever $$$ they do spend on escorts must come from after tax dollars.

After some of these exhaulted $300 per hour studs have spent the week waiting for their phone to ring, without success due, to their rates, they might comtemplate the $1400 that could be in their jeans had they advertised a price of $200 (which frankly is a damn good hourly rate of pay for most of us mere mortals)
