I've recently have had 2 different escorts suggest that rather than an incall at their place, we could meet at a bathhouse, one mentioned a bathhouse in West Hollywood, another mentioned North Hollywood and also WeHo.

 

First, I have never been to ANY gay bathhouse, so I'm curious if they are appropriate for "that" kind of meeting for a couple hours?

There are no bathhouses in West Hollywood. The closest would probably be the Melrose Baths (on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood.) The one mentioned in NoHo is probably the North Hollywood Spa (formerly known as The Compound.) It is owned by the same people that own the Hollywood Spa. These are probably the two most upscale bathhouses in the area and may suit your needs. The Melrose and its related bathhouses (Midtowne Spa in downtown LA and 1350 Club in Wilmington) are not as nice and would not be the best choices. They only have rooms with a single small bed. If that works for you, go for it!

I think I've written about it in the street hustler forum, basically it costs about the same (if you're paying for both) as a cheap motel and usually requires both parties have ID. It's not as comfortable as a room, but there's usually (GAY) porn and sometimes other perks, plus free condoms and usually a packet of lube...

 

My favorite is the North Hollywood Spa, on Vineland I believe, it's by far the cleanest and in my experience you're a lot more likely to have fun if you bring your entertainment with you. On the downside you can't leave and re-enter. All in all I prefer it, unless I'm in Hollywood already... there's a newly redone place well down La Brea called Royal Hawaiian that only charges $20 for 2 hours...

I will defer to both J-Man and James about the current bathhouse scene; I have not been to any of them in over a decade and some I have never been to. The last time I went to the Hollywood Spa (1991), it was very nice. I imagine their North Hollywood location is equally well-managed.
