Hi all,

I need to be super discreet with hiring, and really prefer rm messenger over texting. One provider I really really want to hire has an expired profile, but an away message shows his phone number. I had left two rm messages over the past couple months hoping for a reply (either way, whether he’s still seeing clients or not) and haven’t heard back. His profile visits are private so I have no idea if he’s actually read them or not.
Should I go outside of my comfort zone and text him? Or is the expired profile enough not to bother him.. I only get to hire once or twice a year so I’ve had my eye on this one for a while now.

I do think texting him makes sense. He may have let his profile expire because he has a good number of regular clients. If you’re concerned about privacy, you can use an app like Burner which creates a separate phone number that isn’t linked to your name.

I don’t know if his profile was expired at the time you sent the messages but, if it was, he has no ability to read your messages without first renewing his profile to active.  Were that not the case, RM would go out of business fast.

I had one provider beg me to provide funds for him to renew his membership for a month for the sole purpose of being able to read his messages.

I obliged.  Two weeks later, he begged me for $20 to buy “cat food” and even sent me a photo of the cat saying the cat thanked me after I obliged again.

Some providers make a small fortune from even relatively brief periods serving as providers for this hobby.  Others barely scrape by for even the smallest income from the profession.

From a being discreet standpoint, there are WAY too many options for avoiding your identity being revealed to fail to text a provider when you have a number to which you can text.

A respectful discreet inquiry text, perhaps noting your awareness of his inactive profile, seems fine.

But I would counsel against putting all your eggs (ie your hiring hopes) in this one basket, no matter how appealing the basket.

I've found that if I go to my RM Messages page and see the list of providers I've chatted with, if you click on their thread with you it will tell you when they've last logged onto RM, even if their profile setting is set to private. Also, two little 'check marks' next to your message will reveal whether they've been read or not. (One check mark indicates 'sent' and two check marks indicate 'sent and received'.

Doesn't hurt to try to text the number in the away message/auto reply. In my experience, guys do tend to have their profile expire and then reactivate fairly frequently. But if it's been multiple months, he's not likely to still be checking RM and likely hasn't seen your messages there. You can confirm this by looking at the symbols next to your message to him, if it has two check marks next to it (screenshot attached) that means he's read the message. Otherwise he hasn't seen it.

For identity protection, like others have said, there's many apps to generate a separate phone number. Burner and Google Voice being popular options.

I think he might have just been trying to get cash out of you (or he possibly just didn't know better). There's an escort i help with Rent.Men subscription funding as well, but he gave me his RM account login so i can go on and pay it for him, and they definitely can read (and i think also reply?) their RM messages without an active subscription. The inbox itself doesn't seem to be behind the paywall. But maybe this also depends on Rent.Men vs Rentmen.eu? The subscription gets you boosted in the search recommendations or on the front page and able to post videos and what not.

Well, I’m only going by what he said, but I have known him for almost a decade, and I have assisted him with very small amounts in the past, so he has no reason to be coy about the purpose for needing funds.  I will also add that his profile was back active within an hour of me sending him the funds for a basic membership for a month (I did not even spring for gold 😊).

Also, just as an FYI, I sought to “sponsor” him for a month, but RM was in one of its testy moods about accepting Visa, so I just resorted to using Venmo to send him $35 (or whatever the cost of a one-month basic membership is).  Ditto on Venmo for the cat food.

He remains on RM today (and his profile briefly expired earlier this month), but I would never embarrass him by providing a link for his profile (nor would that serve any purpose whatsoever).
