Changes afoot for 60 Minutes

"60 Minutes" has added four new correspondents ahead of Season 59: New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, author Sebastian Junger, CBS News correspondent Trevor Phillips, and filmmaker Gianna Toboni. According to Variety, Norah O'Donnell will also have an increased presence on the venerable newsmagazine.

Me too!  What are we to make of these new correspondents?  Will the show continue to operate on a transparent non-biased basis or is 60 Minutes going to start investigating wild conspiracy theories and going down empty rabbit holes?  Enquiring minds want to know.

60 Minutes never operated on an unbiased basis. It offered a fairly left leaning tone and of course, it's never really been a news program.  Oprah was a special contributer for God's  sake.

The title of the weekly magazine-format show predicts its own demise.

Online, 60m long info-content with commercials!! is not getting clicks with the under 40's. TLDW. The broadcast/cable linear programming audience is finite, but CBS seems determined to provide the pablum for what used to be the Geritol audience. Ross brings eucharist to potlucks. 

As for the format, a few article -length stories, each hosted by different journo, trimmed to fit. 
Magazines are not the future, either. 

When Andy left, so did I.
