+ Lucky Posted May 27 Posted May 27 A couple of years ago I signed up for the paid version of MCAFEE antivirus, thinking they would then stop sending me upgrades because thousands and trillions of bots and hackers were after me. It didn’t get better, it got worse. Constant upgrade offers because my computer was so at-risk. So recently switched to Norton, but it is worse. Did you know that the protection you bought leaves you even more at risk ? Really, thousands of bad bots and scammers are coming or waiting. I did buy one, but the upsells kept coming. It just seems like a huge scam. is there a company that is honest from the start and doesn’t keep trying to upsell you? That’s the company I want. Thanks for any good advice.
Luv2play Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I use Micro Trend and found them to be good at protecting my computer and not heavy on the upgrade option.
nomad Posted Monday at 07:42 PM Posted Monday at 07:42 PM AVG has worked well for me. Offers different modules so you can select piecemeal or opt for the full suite.
EZEtoGRU Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Is a subscription anti-virus even needed these days? My go-to tech guy tells me he uses it at work but not on his personal computer. His view is if you aren’t going to sketchy sites, you’re likely ok. Most laptops for instance already have some kind of defender built in that addresses most of the issues. I have not used an anti-virus for two years and have had no issues. Then again, I don’t go to sketchy sites. I know I know…define “sketchy”.
