Just started watching the new dysfunctional family comedy from Dan Levy, BIG MISTAKES.

It's very fast-moving, full of (skillfully portrayed) irritating characters, lots of shouting and physical comedy. Laurie Metcalf said she accepted the matriarch role before seeing the script, simply having Levy's genius behind it, and her instincts were correct and she's awesome as always. Dan plays a closeted minister, and is still irresistible. Writing is solid, and always feels like real conversation with crosstalk, and direction also in alignment with the general chaos.

The producers all have cred - shows like Schitt's Creek, Dead To Me, Nurse Jackie, The Diplomat.

Curious about reactions here.

A dear friend lured me to dinner, with a promise of watching Ep 1. I don't have Netflix. We ended up watching the entire season. I didn't get home until 1 am. We both loved it. We laughed hysterically. Had to press pause at times, and rewind to get every word. The writing seemed brilliant to us. So many clever quips, spoken at lightning speed. Casting is superb, too. Especially Laurie Metcalf. Jack Innanen is hot as hell naked, and Boran Kuzum needs to get naked in Season 2. Loved seeing Elizabeth Perkins again. She's 65 now, and still looks 38. Amazing. This show is a fun ride. Dan Levy is very talented.

I'm spreading out my watching. The huzz finds it too frenetic in vibe, so I'm on my own, and just watched the cattle auction episode. 🤣🤣🤣

I started watching my wife, and she also felt it was too chaotic. She is away on a girls weekend,I will give it another try.
