Doe Be Doe Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Hello. I need to rent a furnished apartment or hotel room on a monthly basis in NYC, preferably in Manhattan. If all goes well I will probably need it for several months. I have never done this before. Any advice on things to look for or beware of? Any websites to recommend? Thanks. (I hope it’s okay to put this topic in this forum rather than in travel.)

jeezifonly Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Have you spent a lot of time in NYC already, or will this move be your first time beyond like, a 3-day weekend? It's such an exciting place to be! All kinds of exotic fragrances in the air, come summer - some considered to be definitive of the city. Hope you find an affordable, friendly place! + Lucky 1
MikePDNA51 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Lived in three different rooms found on Craigslist in NYC. I was happy with the rooms and roommates were fine. Write a good note when responding to Craigslist or Facebook advertisement. If having guys over for massage than let roommate know before hand. + Vegas_Millennial 1
MscleLovr Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I’d say first identify the area/s you would prefer, @Doe Be Doe. It’s not clear whether this is for your work or simply for pleasure. Personally I like the Upper East Side. It offers a great mix of culture, restaurants etc with easy access to both Midtown for theatre and the airports. But my preference is really based on years living there. Once you settle on an area, you might approach decent hotels to ask whether they’ll rent you a room for an extended stay (say 30 nights). They may be more flexible than a rental of a furnished apartment. thomas and + Vegas_Millennial 1 1
Doe Be Doe Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 Thanks for the replies. I am familiar with NYC to some degree and this will be for a new job. There are several companies that offer furnished rentals and I am just looking for any recommendations or experience with any particular website or company. If all goes well I will stay there for several months until I can find and purchase an apartment of my own. Thanks again for the replies and any assistance. thomas 1
