+ poolboy48220 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I drank coffee with sugar for about a week when I was in college, I've drunk it black since then. There's a coffee with bits of orange peel - it doesn't affect the taste all that much but the aroma is wonderful. TonyDown 1

(ba-dump bump) I follow this vlog called @thespicynonna from Niagara in Canada about this young (and cute) fellow's Italian-Canadian grandmother. Often the channel is about his grandfather who is quite creative and clever. This latest vlog below shows the grandfather making espresso coffee with sugar, egg yolk and hazelnut liquor. I have never tried this kind of coffee. Have you? Looks yummy. So does the grandson. 😉 Do you have a special approach to preparing your coffee? (FYI the granddaughter has her own YouTube Vlog about dog grooming with over a million subscribers.) This same gentleman posted again, this time an instant coffee technique. He uses frozen blackberries, all from his garden. My freezer is full of frozen pomegranate. Perhaps I'll toss some in next time I make instant coffee.

About 1 in every 20,000 eggs is contaminated by salmonella, but it is usually either a multistate outbreak from a single producer or eggs from backyard coops. Nonetheless, salmonella is still a concern — especially if you’re high-risk: young children, elderly, pregnant, or immunocompromised — and it causes ~450 deaths a year. With the OP recipe, I wonder if the hot espresso is enough to kill off any possible salmonella. For homemade Caesar dressing, the lemon juice and vinegar in the recipe should be enough to kill it off. No guarantee, unfortunately. When I get back to the US, I really want to try this recipe — basically a blend of eggnog, liqueur, and espresso — except I’ll try a Spanish version using 43 instead of Frangelico. + sync and MikeBiDude 2
+ poolboy48220 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 My old roommate had a favorite cake from her childhood that used raw eggs. I made it for her birthday and asked her about it - she said she'd been eating it for 30 years with no issues 🙂 it's honestly a great cake, I haven't made it in years and now I want to.
BSR Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I discovered a new favorite at Starbucks, the Shakerato Bianco, 4 shots of espresso shaken with ice then topped with sweetened vanilla half & half. I hate that I’ve discovered yet another addictive liquid dessert variation for my morning caffeine fix, but it is delicious! TonyDown 1
marylander1940 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 3 Equal or Splenda and "cloud of milk", barely a teaspoon.
handiacefailure Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I like using sugar free vanilla flavor creamer in mine or with Bailey's for an after dinner drink Nightowl and + FrankR 2

I had a “free” iced coffee so was able to make modifications- I added skim milk, Splenda, a little pistachio protein cold foam, and a little chocolate protein cold foam for a makeshift “Dubai chocolate” drink. BSR Posted Sunday at 06:59 PM Posted Sunday at 06:59 PM The Spanish restaurants here serve Vietnamese coffee, espresso with condensed milk, but call it a Spanish latte (a marketing gimmick because Vietnamese coffee isn’t really a thing in Spain). Vietnamese coffee can be served hot or iced, delicious either way. Of course, I always have it iced, sticking with the theme of cold liquid desserts replacing my morning brew. Sheesh, I really need to kick this addiction!
alrajee Posted Monday at 07:48 PM Posted Monday at 07:48 PM No sugar, no cream, six ounces max. For me, coffee is just "gimme caffeine." I do know that in other countries, coffee with sweeters like condensed milk is a thing. I wouldn't have any issues trying them!
MikeBiDude Posted Monday at 09:25 PM Posted Monday at 09:25 PM A couple of posts reminded me that my grandparents on my mom’s side…drank their coffee with Pet Evaporated Milk (not sweetened condensed milk). I think it was a post WW2 thing for them. Tasted good! TonyDown 1
TonyDown Posted yesterday at 05:54 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:54 AM (edited) 👆 @MikeBiDude My parents did the same, and I have a friend even now that adds a small spoon of evaporated milk. Edited yesterday at 05:56 AM by TonyDown
+ poolboy48220 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago out of town this weekend and renting an AirBnB that just has a keurig. I don't have one, the pods seem expensive and eco-wasteful to me, but I guess I'm going to have to pick up a dozen or so because morning coffee's an absolute requirement. We stayed with friends on the other side of the state who were not coffee drinkers at all (got their morning caffeine from Mountain Dew) and I picked up a very cheap Mr. Coffee machine. We forgot to empty it when we left, and visiting them the next year, the grounds were still in the basket. They were pretty gross. mike carey 1

Where I usually stay in Sydney, there's a grocery chain shop across the street, and they do quite serviceable espresso coffee, beats the instant the hotel usually offers in their in-room excuse for tea and coffee making facilities. On the too-few occasions I've had an upgrade (hotel status? what?), those rooms had a Nespresso machine, with two pods (!) so I travel with more of them that I buy. Other hotels have the same machines, or others that use another proprietary pod system, so I travel with supplies of those too. At least they always have china cups or mugs for the coffee rather than some plastic-wrapped paper thing. In the US, the default I've seen, where there's been anything at all, is Keurig, so I buy extras of those and usually end up dumping them or leaving them in my room before I fly home (I've never seen Keurig machines here, and in any case I don't want the drama of having any plant products to declare on arrival). I agree that the pods are environmentally questionable, but morning coffee wins the day.
