Glad to hear about Matt’s return. Good news!

One caveat however.  The advert above indicates “Bigger, louder, hotter nights”.  Maybe it’s just me…but do we really need “louder” nights?  One of the big pluses at Johnson’s has always been the music not being out of control loud. I like spending time with the dancers and appreciate having the music at a level that allows for conversation. New look, new guys, and a new DJ are all great but I don’t need louder music.

Pre-COVID when Twist still had dancers, the music used to be painfully loud. It was always problematic.

I agree!  I was there the past two Friday nights, and Matt turned up the volume after 9 pm and it was so loud that I had to leave because my ears started aching.   I had to apologize to my friend who wanted (actually had) to stay because his absolutely favorite bodybuilder dancer, Tony, does not come in until after 10 pm and he always does multiple private dances with him, but I am not going deaf just to see and feel dancers, no matter how hot they are.

I don't understand why clubs have to crank the volume to where it's painful.  I'm now having to bring ear plugs when going out, and the younger gen are doing it too.  So what does the club think blasting to where it hurts gets them?

Glad Matts back though........

Eh I get that.... I like it loud, but less so as I get older.  I think a bigger issue is the playlist.  If you liked the music, the volume might not be as annoying. Matt's one of the few that gets it... entertain the clients not the dancers.  Although I'm not a Johnson's kind of guy (not into the muscled up gym rat type), the vibe at Johnson's is so much better than any other strip club in North America.  I'm not saying you should play Rock Around the Clock, but play stuff clients would enjoy from THEIR club days when they were younger and getting action without having to hit the ATM.  Matt hits the sweet spot with 80s and 90s stuff.  As soon as I hear Nicki Minaj or shiz like that, I'm ready to go.

Matt is now the manager of Johnsons Ft Lauderdale!

From its Facebook page yesterday:

any new talent onboard since new, old management returned ?

I was there 2 weeks ago when he had just returned.  Mostly same dancers as before then.  I guess we will see over the next few weeks but many of those dancers have been at the club for YEARS.  My friend even pointed out that a few from the Boardwalk years ago.  Any update on whether the music still blasts after 9 pm?

I just returned from a visit to Ft. Laud and can attest that things at Johnsons are pretty much the same as before Matt's return.  There was one star of the night who resembled a young Burt Lancaster and every time he took the stage it rained dollars bills in his direction...there were other dancers who have been on the roster for years.

Had a chance to visit both Johnsons and LeBoy this past Saturday night.   Both were very busy with lots of customers and dancers.  Lots of Latin dancers, very few white ones. Great service by bartenders at both places.

Johnsons has always had more Latin dancers than any other ethnic/racial group - and usually if they have a new white dancer, they are visiting from another city, like Montreal or sometimes another US city like Atlanta or Tampa.  The question is whether they are the same dancers that they have had for years.  I guess I will have to go and see (haven't been since the end of March)...  I've never been to LeBoy...

I was at Johnson's for three nights last weekend.  A few quick observations:

*  The music is played entirely too loud now.

*  Too many fem twink types dancing there now.  Maybe that's all they can find to dance now.

*  Lot's of chatter that Johnson's won't be around much longer.  Accurate?  Who knows?

*  None of the 10-12 newer guys were attractive or masculine IMHO.

*  Some of the long-term dancers are still good looking but it's a small group.

*  Marlon Brando look-alike (Lucas) is getting bigger and says he will do body-building competition in 2027.

Interesting, yet troubling report from Johnsons...and in line with what I experienced in Montreal last week, i.e. the caliber of the dancers is on the decline and the sustainability of these clubs is in question.

I thought Matt would have been more successful in revitalizing Johnsons with his return.  I do like Lucas -- and hope he sticks around.  There was another bodybuilder from Argentina who was at Johnsons when I was there recently with several tats.

Yes Lucas is very handsome and so nice. Yes there were several other Argentines there also…including the one with tattoos. He is one of the guys that is getting older…but still attractive.

Re the “chatter” about the future of Johnsons.   Who is doing the chatting?

I’d rather not say as I don’t want to get anyone in trouble…but multiple people chatting though.

One other observation I failed to mention above is that multiple former employees are now gone including bartenders Ray and Rueben.   All the waiters I saw were new to me as well.  Is everyone jumping ship?
