But sometimes it’s better to just shake the dust off your feet and say you’re done, no matter if the others feel you’re a weakling or they “won.” The thing about wrestling with swine in the sty is the pigs enjoy it and in the end everyone is still covered in mud and shit. Which is exactly why, as stated before, I can't care less about what others think, say or do with what I share. I am not in charge of caring for other people's "perceptions" (aka, biases, stupidity, prejudices, poor cognition, among others). That's not my responsibility, end of the story. I'm confident about what I say and why I say it. Whatever others decide to do with it is on them; it's not my job to show them the light, not may job to make them like it. Edited July 7 by soloyo215

It's can be rewarding to have discussions with someone who disagress with you. Some of the best discussions about government and politics I've had with people who would never vote the way I do…but they're reasonable, intelligent people who don't just reformulate what you say, "That's not how it is." It’s about knowing where the line is… I also have a very, very low tolerance for regurgitated or reformulated talking points – be they about politics or just any topic that has somehow polarized people. If you're just going to represent someone else's ideas without reflection, or reflection simply to the point of rewording, I grow tired quickly of the discussion. I don't have evidence to support this, but my sense is also that those who double down the hardest are those who haven't done much of their own personal reflection on whatever the topic at hand is. dbar123 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 By all means grant yourself a guilt release and throw out the rear view mirror. It’s all good.
