This isn’t niche—it’s just selfish. Prioritizing that extra bit of sensation at the bottom’s expense—especially if you’re well-endowed—can be uncomfortable or even harmful. I've never been a fan of lube. I learned to view it as a necessary evil. When I see it being used in porn, it's a turn-off, especially when the actors do no-edit oral without washing it off first. Again, this is not remotely how human biology works. Neither douching nor bottoming "dries out" your butthole. Douching too often or too close to sex can remove some mucus, which can be beneficial. It's also why over-douching or using anything but water is not recommended. And if you expect a bottom to douche, then you also better expect to use lube for reasons previously mentioned.

I was making a joke. But I have heard that regular douching is not a good idea.

I had no idea what lube was until I moved to NYC. Even if I knew about in the 70's, I wouldn't have known where to find it my home town. My teenage butt was lube free until I turned 24.
