Another pearl fished in LPSG's legendary thread.

As far as I know, there are no saints that have gotten there by lying in wait and shooting a man in the back.  Chances are that in prison he will eventually find out what other men do to a man behind his back.

I don’t think @KensingtonHomo was trolling… multiple things can be true:

-Penny is a hero for serving in the military.

-Penny did the right thing in standing up for his fellow passengers by restraining Neely.  Most people who have ridden the subway in NYC have seen individuals like Neely and have felt threatened by them.

-Penny went too far in this restraint, which contributed to Neely’s death and makes him partially accountable.  At the end of the day, had Penny not restrained Neely with the amount of force and for the length of time he did (also caused by the wait time for the cops to come), he would not have died that day (and there’s no way to determine how long he would have survived).

-Both Neely and Thompson were “bad people.” That doesn’t justify either of their deaths.  Neely should have been permanently in jail or a place he could have been treated for his mental illnesses.  I hold the system that allowed him on the streets in the first place just as accountable for his death as Penny.  The ideal justice for Thompson would have been if he had gotten a debilitating illness and been denied treatment, but legally there was nothing that could have been done to prosecute him for his crimes against humanity.

Sorry.

Neely was crazy. Not "bad". He may or may not have understood what he was doing half the time. He was a victim of the circumstances that his mental illness set up.

Thompson knew he was a piece of sh*it.

That’s why I put “bad people” in quotations.  His actions were bad whether he understood or not.

Mangione and Penny are two very disparate individuals.

Luigi Mangione is a coward; a cold blooded murderer.

Daniel Penny is a patriot and a hero. A patriot for stepping up and volunteering to serve in the military. We should never forget it is thanks to Daniel Penny, and those like him, that we enjoy the rights and freedoms that so many take for granted... but shouldn't! Penny served to defend the rights and freedoms for every American, even for those  whose opinions we find to be vile and abhorrent.
Penny was a hero to EVERY person on that subway car. He is also a hero to millions of NYC subway riders who take mass transit every day, not because they want to, but because they have to. These are folks, by and large, who work hard, follow the law, and only want to get to their jobs and back home to their families safely. Neely was a drug addled, homeless degenerate. He was threatening every person on that train. His absence will not be missed. In fact, it should be applauded.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Mod's Note

A member some time ago reminded us that this is about the way Mr Mangione was being fetishised, and that there was a thread in the Lounge about the crime. I made a comment as a Mod saying 'Exactly' in reply to it. A reminder to keep discussions on that aspect of the fallout from Mr Thompson's alleged murder. If you can't manage that, you'll be aware of what can happen to the thread.

We have had quite a few reports of content here and taken action where necessary, and also deleted some of the comments that have gone too far. I realise some members may have preferred us to be more active in doing that (and some that we did less). We will continue to monitor this, and the complementary thread and edit them as necessary.

Luigi Mangione's burgundy sweater sells out in one day at Nordstroms ...

Horrible taste. He looks like Lee Harvey Oswald wearing a sweater. The jumpsuit looked better. Or a suit.

I think Oswald was hotter but that's just my taste. He was also a marine too, so he probably had a hot body under his early 60's baggy clothes.

And here they come! The gay claims the "community" always has to make based on hearsay for anybody famous and even remotely attractive. Just right after some guy online claimed he had a friend who made out with Luigi in college, so he "knew" he was totally bi! Yes, some queen knows somebody, who knows somebody, who knew him or had a fling with him.... yatta yatta ... so of course it's gotta be true, right?! Once again it all reminds me a story about that gerbil that supposably got stuck in a famous handsome actos rectum decades ago! There are still people that swear by it that they knew it was true for a fact! 🙄
