+ pizzaBoy Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I feel like this has to have been covered already, but I'm not finding anything. Is it typical to discuss all aspects of an appointment via text message? I don't want to put the provider or myself in any compromising position. But today, a provider asked what I was wanting in a text message after giving me rates. I just don't like that texts hang around forever. Thanks.
moonlight Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Yes it's typical and most seem not to care. Most providers seem to expect doing so. I'm with you though, I don't like that texts hang around forever and using a burner (app or phone) doesn't change that. I don't really understand why apps like Signal aren't more widely used here.
BuffaloKyle Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I like to try and discuss the specifics of what I want in a session on RM messenger if possible. For me it's mainly that I don't want to give out my number to a provider where we don't match up sexually or rate wise. Also if I get a bad vibe at all I can cut communication easily. Then once everything sounds good and checks out we can move to text to set in stone a session. caramelsub, TorontoDrew, + Pensant and 1 other 1 3
+ KensingtonHomo Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 The sense of risk providers and clients have regarding texting varies greatly. Personally, I'm not worried about it. No one has access to my texts but me (and my husband, I guess), and I doubt L.E. is interested in me. That said, there are apps you can use, like Burner, that give you a separate untraceable number that you can use for your hobby.
+ Jamie21 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 A few clients like to discuss things in a phone call. How old fashioned!!! It tends to be older clients but I think it’s quite nice to talk. You can get a better idea of what he’s like and have a proper discussion. The only challenge is finding an appropriate time and location for such a potentially explicit discussion. Alternatively I do have WhatsApp and Telegram and Signal (which is very discreet indeed) if any client is concerned about privacy. As for law enforcement well that’s not a concern here given sex work is legal (within certain parameters).
ShortCutie7 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I do all of my communication via RM messaging. If a provider I haven’t met insists on texting me, I let him know that as a general rule I do not give my phone number to people I haven’t met in person. + Vegas_Millennial 1
+ DrownedBoy Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Text is pretty much the only choice. Most providers won't accept an appointment without one. FYI your texts are more secure than anything you type on RM Messenger. My advice is to always use euphemisms when setting a payment up. Under no circumstances type something that outright says, "I'll pay you for sex." + KensingtonHomo and peter831 1 1
NYXboy Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Not letting the provider know exactly what you’re wanting from the meeting is playing with disaster. They need to know what is expected and you need to know they are comfortable with it. if texting is an issue, explain that texting it makes you uncomfortable, and ask when is a convenient time to briefly talk. How easy. + KensingtonHomo 1
+ KensingtonHomo Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I actually had a great massage from a guy in LA last week who prefers to speak on the phone. He's in his late 50s (though he doesn't look it), and I found it refreshing. Once I showed up we were immediately on the same page. + Vegas_Millennial and thomas 2
