RM not accepting Visa anymore!? What the actual f$ck?

My Venmo debit card which is a MC won’t work.  I guess they don’t allow international charges.  I ordered a capital one 360 check acct debit card that I think will allow international charges.  Means I can’t work till it arrives tho.

Someone just gifted me a month for RM.  thank you so much!!  One site down just need to deal with rent masseur now.  
Just a heads up for anyone affected RM And Rentmasseur are no longer taking visa.  And just learned that my Venmo debit card doesn’t work internationally.  If you don’t have a credit card I recommend getting a capital one 360.  The site claims it does international charges and doesn’t charge a fee.  Thanks again Mike for taking care of my RM ad for me so I can least have one ad till I get my new card.  (I didn’t put your last name didn’t know if you want me to put you on blast 😆) 

Update: if you add money to your Apple Pay and pay directly from There it works on rent masseur.  Probably works on RM too.   Hours of research just to make a payment.  Lol

I turns out that RM accepts Visa cards from Australia, another point of weirdness in what they are doing. I had the card on file with them, hit send on the transaction, my phone pinged with a message from my bank that the charge had been made, my RM account reflected the payment and I received an e-mail confirmation (not in RM).

You might have to call the bank and inquire. They might have a block on foreign transactions as a way to protect you.

Yes I did that..... they said there is No Block on the card can use it anywhere in the word etc..

They also mention its not on there end its on the merchant end...

Rent Masseur: Shut Up And Take My Money!

Here is my experience if it helps anyone.
Thank you prior respondents, because your notes helped me today!




TL;DR
New to this site. On RM 1.5 years. None of their payment types worked for me. I received a free month extension to figure it out and still no luck. The extensions ends Thursday so I gave my friend money to then "gift" me more membership. He got a free month for every gifted month so if you want him to do the same for you, my DM's are prelubed, you know what to do.




Methodology
- I apprised the RM webmasters and [email protected] via every step with notes & screen captures for each attempt. Specific concerns were not addressed. Every reply: "We now only take MC & Crypto. Talk to your bank."


- My original card on file was a visa, which ran successfully one time after the switch to MC, but happened to be empty for the subsequent recurring charge. Their automated system tried 3 times over 3 days and sent me emails, but I didn't even notice or respond. That's my bad. They therefore put the card on the bad list and deactivated my profile.


- I switched to a Venmo Debit MC but then Venmo restricted it's use for everyone to in US only & it worked for one month. But then Venmo stopped allowing it's use outside of the US (for all cardholders) and my profile was yanked again.


- While I apply for other cards and study crypto options, my bestie piled all his MC, Visa and Apple cards and crypto wallets onto the metaphorical table and we spent a long night being refused use of each one. Usually in some obvious "validation error" error tied to the reskinning of the site to the new beta version. I think.


- You can't be gifted a month of membership if your profile is deactivated because it won't come up in searches. And my free month runs out on Thursday, so I lose the battle and give my friend money to "gift" me more time today.



Conclusion
Are you nervous or feeling alone? DM if you want to contact my friend to gift you your own money, but i know that takes trust in an imperfect world. So to leave on a soothing note, I conclude with....




A Quiet Afternoon Scene at CVS Pharmacy

At one point, a new single payment option appeared on the site, the PaySafeCard. It's so complicated & has bad reviews but I want to use the tools RM requires so... I go to CVS in person and buy a CVS Giftcard, attempt to use it on the PaySafe site to buy a PaySafeCard PIN as they require. But the CVS Giftcard is refused with an error message that says my card is an online purchase and they only accept a physical card purchased in a physical CVS store. I read this message while staring at the physical card in my hand, the receipt in my other, and the CVS cashier watching over my shoulder. We laugh. We cry. We bond over the absurdity of the situation and, silver lining: I made a friend. But I could not make a payment.

Me: "Hey Webmasters and [email protected], is this PaySafeCard option even valid? Or is it some leftover from the site re-build, like other bugs I've reported."

Webmaster: "I dunno, if it's backed by MasterCard, I guess you can try it." 


I can try it? The thing you have on your site to pay might work? I can try it?

If the Master of the site doesn't even know what his site does, and no one from billing@rentmasseur has ever responded to my billing questions...

Hi All,

My status at RM was recently knocked down to a basic one because as they said, they no longer accept Visa for payment. The very personable admin guy said they'd had trouble with Visa; I figured I didn't need any details, so I didn't ask. They already weren't accepting Amex, instead they're accepting only MasterCard and Bitcoin. Honestly, I'm not a kid, so anything about Bitcoin seems murky and dangerous, so I''ve yet to be able to complete a transaction. Have others run into this difficulty? Better yet, is there anybody who can give guidance on navigating Bitcoin? Any leads much appreciated.

I have four credit cards - three Visas, one Amex - no Mastercards.

I was able to do some sort of one time payment with VISA but I think I did it through rm.eu

No comfort for most here, but it seems to vary by territory, and certainly applies in the US. I renewed my membership ($AU89.95 for six months) manually with my Visa card they had on file.

I just was talking to my favorite masseur and mentioned that his ad was missing from Rentmasseur. He informed my that Rentmasseur is cancelling all ads that refuse to pay with Crypto or MasterCard. He stated he was unwilling to get a new credit card just for this one web site. He told me he has had his ad on there for 5 years and never missed a payment with his Visa and thinks they are being unreasonable. 
Putting this out there to remind people that if your favorite masseur was Rentmasseur you may need to save their info or look for them on Masseurfinder.

They did the same with my premium access.  I had used a Visa card and started receiving notices my account was being canceled/downgraded.  When I went to check it out, it was MC or Crypto only.

Seems like a crazy business decision, however, business in Europe is a different animal than here in the U.S. From my days of business travel, I always had both a Visa and MC, because in Europe, you never knew which business accepted which card. Most businesses I encountered in Europe had restrictions on which card could be used. They simply could not afford, or did not want to endure the expense of offering too many cards.

If I was a massage therapist, and I profited from, and liked the UI of rentmasseur, I would definitely get a MC.

Times are a changing.  A major grocer in my area no longer accepts VISA, but will accept American Express, Discover, or MasterCard.  VISA's fees became too outrageous for merchants to support.  VISA has increased its fees to support the Rewards cards it offers.

Not surprising that they will accept crypto, after all the paper trail is not there and taxes are more easily evaded.

I had no clue about that... I think both of mine are Visa's now that I think about it.

Same thing with Rentmen as well.  I won't be paying for premium access anymore because they won't take VISA or Amex.

When I emailed them about this a couple of months ago, they said they were working on making more payment options available.
