Hi guys. I’ll be in SF next month, the weekend of 07/13. I haven’t been able to locate any bodybuilders (I’m into muscle worship) in SF. Would anyone here be able to make any recommendations? Thanks

As someone who lives in San Francisco and is extremely turned on by bodybuilders (as opposed to, say, twinks), there are few locals who qualify.  There are occasional visitors, but they are rare.  I would love to have easy access to the bodybuilders who frequent New York, Los Angeles, and Miami.  But they don't often travel to S.F.

I think you were supposed to provide the names of the locals whom you think qualify, mister. James Rugby (and others 😋) are looking for names.

I have responded as forthrightly as I can.  The point is, I cannot recommend any local bodybuilders.  If there are any, they do not seem to advertise in RentMen.

I wonder why there seems to be a lack of bodybuilder providers in SF/bay area. Maybe they can do better and live more cheaply by heading down to LA?

There aren't many bodybuilders in LA, either. Seems like they have all migrated to Florida.

There are fewer bodybuilder providers in California because that body type has less status and appeal than it used to. The customer base is smaller.

Fitness is still hot, as is being muscular. But committing oneself to the rigidity of the body building lifestyle is fringe these days. It has been fairly well established that bodybuilders live shorter lives and have less than stellar overall health. They also have poorer mobility and stamina. They are therefore looked down on by the rest of the fitness and athletic communities.

Men who may have considered body building twenty years ago are now taking up more well-rounded fitness regimens. Think Hugh Jackman or Jake Gyllenhaal. When was the last time you saw a bodybuilder in a movie? They were everywhere in the 80s. They are not visible today.

WTF? How about:

The Rock.

Alan Ritchson.

Henry Cavill.

John Cena.

Chris Hemsworth.

Dude — you need to see more summer movies. They may not be professional bodybuilders, but all these actors have recently displayed physiques at least as big and ripped as Arnold in his cinematic prime. It appears to me that extreme movie muscle is alive and well (thank god). Why the need to body-shame muscle guys?

Well who died and made "the rest of the fitness and athletic communities" King? 😉

I also want to see their 2024 vote tallies for how they rated gay people in general, trans folk, and people with disabilities, before I begin to trust the judgement of ""the rest of the fitness and athletic communities."

Always remember, don't look for the validation of the person next to you in the gym; there's a good chance they are an idiot.

I'm always confused by the "bodybuilder" category since some people seem to use it to mean anyone who's particularly muscular and other people reserve it for people who have a physique that would qualify them to enter a bodybuilder contest.  Here's a photo of Stu of Sean Cody fame.  The left shows a muscular man that surely "built his body," but the right is him after quitting porn and entering the world of bodybuilding competition.  I actually find the image on the left more appealing, but I know that some people are more interested in physiques as shown on the right.

There are guys with builds similar to Stu in his Sean Cody days who are advertising currently on Rent.men in San Francisco (though maybe no one as cute as him!), but there isn't anyone who looks like Stu on the right.

Ummm, you forgot the photo 🤔

No, it was removed and I got a warning.  I didn't pay attention and the photo I linked had an erection which isn't allowed to be embedded into thread here.

Here's a replacement photo suitable for this site.

My question is this: When someone says they want a "bodybuilder," are they necessarily meaning someone who looks like Stu on the right, with not only very large muscles but also so little body fat that individual muscle fibers and some veins are visible?

It’s a valid question. “Bodybuilder” can be an elastic term, covering (to continue the movie star analogy) body types like Ryan Gosling (sleek, visible abs, but not bulky in clothes) all the way up to Dwayne Johnson (massive, defined, and veiny). For me, “bodybuilder” means the Dwayne Johnson end of the spectrum, and beyond. My kink is big, freaky muscle, the kind carried by lifters who compete (or could compete) in pro bodybuilding shows.

Your kink may vary …

Stu, by the way, even at his most developed, is at the lower end of the “bodybuilder” range for me.

I’ve had the pleasure of being with this guy a few times. THAT is a bodybuilder.

In all of my decades of hiring in San Francisco, I think this type of escort with a bodybuilder has either not existed or extremely rare.  The reason I asked for clarification as to what constitutes a bodybuilder is that I can recall an exchange on Hooboy decades ago where I linked an ad as a bodybuilder and I was promptly shot down by a lot of forum members who told me that a bodybuilder isn't just someone muscular but someone who has an even larger build and lower body fat.
