Saw it tonight.

A solid, appropriately loud and techno-designed version of this long standing rock opera.

It's had several months to preview and clean up in Chicago at The Goodman and it's come onto Broadway in fighting shape.

In typical Des McAnuff style, there's a lot of LED lighting and high-def screens, all used creatively to tell the story.

Alison Luff, Adam Jacobs and Ali Bourzgui are standouts.  The music requires a healthy range and the leads made it sound effortless.

HIghly recommend this show if you're a fan of The Who.

After seeing the movie Tommy as a kid, Ann Margaret made me straight for about a day and a half. Gorgeous!

Fuck, she was foxy, no?

She did that for me with Bye Bye Birdie.  Just insanely beautiful (and talented).

How could neither of you mention her sexiest role?!?!?

The NY Post raved.

I saw the original TOMMY musical when it toured my city 30 years ago (my friend and I were subscribers to the theater back then). We both had no desire to see this - we simply weren't in the mood that night and we weren't 'Who' fans (we were 30 at the time, both saw the movie in the 70s and didn't remember much of the story).  Begrudgingly, we ended up at the theater - and had the best night of our lives. The show was incredible (especially for a 'tour' show). We were mesmerized that Friday night, and bought tickets to the Saturday matinee. We were fascinated once again. I bought the cast musical (double CD) and played it every day for about a year.

I'm going to try to get to NYC and see the revival. What's keeping me away is the price of hotels and tickets to the show - everything is still out of whack.

That's not going to change anytime soon.  There's no longer a shoulder/off-season in NYC.

Broadway ticket prices aren't going down either.  TDF, TKTS, digital lotteries, etc, are all the way to go for discounts.

I saw this tonight… outstanding vocals/performances, great music, and impressive production.   But what an awful book… and I like pretty much everything 🤯

The story isn't for everyone.  It's not what I'd consider ultra-audience friendly.

But then again, it doesn't take much for someone to quickly google a plot synopsis before seeing a show.

Trigger warnings annoy the fuck outta me.

Agreed.  I did have a general idea of the subject matter going in but admittedly had to look up what happened during the first 20ish minutes because it was NOT clear at all.

I’ve always wanted to see this show because I love the song “Pinball Wizard” and then listened to some of the other songs which I also really liked.  The plot started off hard to follow (as I wrote above), then turned disturbing, then stupid.  I was actually contemplating leaving at intermission for the first time in my life but I stayed because the singing was incredible and I wanted to hear some of the act two songs.

I was impressed by every aspect of the show. Performances, vocals, projections, production value...but was completely unmoved by any of it. Not sorry to have seen...we had good seats, (and no one directly in front of us); I just didn't connect with it at all. I would recommend to Who fans, but there's a lot on the boards now, and I'd see it fairly quick. It only got one Tony nomination, (Best Revival/Musical) and that is one of the few catagories this year that is a total lock: Merrily.

Saw this last weekend as I had a feeling that it wasn't going to last much longer before closing.  I did enjoy it, but from what I recall from seeing the 1993-1995 production, I enjoyed that version much more.   I went back to that IBDB listing to see that Norm Lewis, Alice Ripley, and Sherie Scott (now Sherie Rene Scott) were all in the Ensemble cast for that show.  Those names should be familiar to Broadway aficionados.
