Ali Gator
Jada Plinkett Smith, 52, has said in an interview with PEOPLE Magazine that she and her husband, actor Will Smith have 'secretly' been separated since 2016 - and seven years later, they are not sure where their 'fractured marriage' is headed. The actress spoke to PEOPLE before she sat down with Hoda Kotb for an extensive interview on NBC this week. Jada explained why her marriage to Will, 55, broke down, divulging: 'By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.' Jada - who admitted in 2020 that she'd had an affair with singer August Alsina, 31 - said she considered a legal divorce but could never go through with it. 'I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce,' she continued. 'We will work through whatever. And I just haven't been able to break that promise.' Hoda asked, 'But you still live separately?' prompting Jada to confirm 'we live separately'. Jada said she and Will are still 'figuring out' the state of their marriage. The couple have raised three children - Jaden, 25, Willow, 22, and Trey, 30, who is Will's son from a previous relationship. The couple have denied for years the rumors about their troubled marriage. In 2022, at the 94th Academy Awards, Will famously slapped comedian Chris when he joked that Jada looked like 'G.I. Jane' because of her bald head when she had recently revealed that was suffering from alopecia. Will said he was defending his wife. In a rambling acceptance speech later on for his 'Best Actor' Oscar, a sobbing Smith admitted that 'love makes you do crazy things' Marc in Calif
+ nycman
So wait. Let me get this “straight”. He ruined his career over a woman he isn’t even in love with? Now I think he’s an even bigger idiot than I did before! + augustus, pubic_assistance, Ali Gator and 1 other 2

If it's to keep her as his 'beard', the whole world knows his 'secret'. I'm not certain what the laws are in CA, but in some jurisdictions, I believe if you are 'separated' for at least 7 years, but never file divorce papers, your marriage is automatically 'dissolved' within the eyes of the law. It happened to the parents of a very good friend of mine about a decade ago. The reason they never filed for divorce was for financial reasons (they were very well off, and owned different investments together which complicated their finances, in a sense). Semantics, in the context of communication, refers to the meaning of words. It is how we personally interpret a word. Ever heard of the phrase 'Let's not argue over semantics'? This means that people are not disagreeing about the material facts. They are disagreeing about the definition of a word or phrase. So what's YOUR definition of "Plinkett"? 🤣🎯🤣 It's funny the lengths people will go to justify their own misspellings. 😇 Edited October 12, 2023 by Marc in Calif MikeBiDude, + augustus, + jessmapex and 2 others 1
+ azdr0710
a straight male former escort/provider I know tells me the story of being contacted (years ago) by them for a very lucrative three-way......presumably, it would've required the provider to mess around with Will and I believe that's part of the reason my provider friend said no..... I know the rumors about Will are not new, but wanted to share!.....gotta wonder if Will's Chris Rock slap up on stage was some sort of masculinity self-validation.......not gonna worry about it, though! Whenever I think of Will & Jada's relationship (which I try to do at least once a millennium) I'm tempted to sing "Isn't it semantics?" It was recently reported that,at some point, Chris Rock asked Jada out on a date and she declined. Will probably knew about this and it factored into his decision to slap Rock. marylander1940, pubic_assistance and + nycman 1
