During a quick perusal of the Escort Travels thread, I noticed something that caused me to wonder: almost all of the posts by escorts announcing their travels yesterday were made in one twenty minute period in the evening (seven different escorts). There are long gaps when no escort is posting his travel plans. How do you decide when to make these announcements, and do you ever coordinate your travels with other escorts (a--gasp!--escort cartel)?

What a coincidence, hehe!

 

Actually I either plan my trips based on 1. Places I have regulars at, 2. Places I have to be at for non-escorting related activites (I have some availability in the afternoons when I travel on other ventures I'm involved in, for example), or 3. Places where my partner has to be for out-of-town bookings (i.e. my trips to some smaller cities that you normally don't see guys on here traveling to). I try to make my postings no further out than 1-2 weeks depending on the city I'm going to. Some places have guys that like to schedule ahead (my preference), and some places have guys that call you when they are ready right now (NYC, for example).

There were always so many guys available all the time in NYC, that when I lived there I normally called when I was in the mood for something right away. When I was traveling, on the other hand, even to NYC from elsewhere, I liked to know well in advance that I had someone lined up. Now that I live where there are few options, I always book in advance.

Actually the times you are seeing are not when the escorts posted their travel ad. Rather the times are when the last response in that travel thread was posted. If you enter the given thread you will see that the escorts posted their ads over a wide period of time.

 

The ads are listed in order of the last post or reply to that given travel announcement. This is I guess why many escorts post a reply which says nothing more than "bump" or some minutia of their travel progress. This brings their listing to the top. Additionally clients will apparently bump (or reply) an escort for one reason or another.

 

It would be nice if the travel ads were displayed sorted by the dates in the subject line rather than by posting/reply date.

That is an excellent suggestion that appeals to my sense of organization and orderliness.

 

It seems that some guys are always bumping up their posts as the date approaches... (now everyone here knows who they are... LOL!!!) and sometimes the effect is downright comical... as, "I am at the airport and my flight is boarding... I am arriving at my hotel... I am sitting here with no business so please call... etc. etc. etc."

In all honesty it was me that bumped those ads

the reason is that I usually feel uncomfortable bumping my travel post

when I am not already in the city I am working in.

I post a couple weeks in advance pre-book some clients and if I have lots of availability I will bump my ad while I am there (Just my preference)

I got to the board late last night and noticed that my NYC ad was bumped 4 times ( i wont be there till monday night) pushing other ads down the list.

I thought "well that sucks all these other guys are currently in other cities and their ads are on page 2"

I bumped them in the spirit of fairness. nothing more.

I really enjoy the nice compliments I have received on this board and appreciate all the great press. But its just felt like the right thing to do.

I did notice that I pushed down Raul's & Steven's post and for that I am sorry. I meant no ill will. & I certainly did not mean to offend anyone especially other working guys that I respect and care about even the ones I dont know. I thought you guys would have been able to see what I was trying to do (assuming makes an ass out of me) Raul & Steven I hope your Holidays are great and know that I was a bad boy so no gifts for me but I'll take a spanking any day

I dont have much availability left in NYC till after Christmas.

thought I would Just hang out and enjoy the city.

Not quite what you are looking for, but select the folder and sort by topic. If the posters follow the format requested, the city name will be first so at least you can locate the city of interest easily.

I don't quite get it why you apologized to me and Raul, it's no big deal to me. I just find it funny and we had a good laugh especially after the private "anonymous" email I received last week (which I won't publish here). That email explained different reasons, I don't know how me and other readers should "swallow" your explanation here.

 

I think some people need to lighten up a little. The travel section is not some kind of communist Brezhnev-type board and it's normal that escorts and clients bump their posts. That's the nature of the beast.

While not privy to any private correspondence… I really don’t see why 8inch really needed to “come clean” or apologize at all either. These things happen… and as the travel section is currently set up that is indeed “the nature of the beast” as Steven mentions above. However, the fact that he did what he did and then felt guilty about the unintended consequences speaks reams about 8inch's basic character…

 

Consequently 8inch… you don’t need to take that spanking… However if you still feel that the punishment does indeed fit the “crime”, I would be privileged to be your whipping boy... and be so "any day"…

BUMPING has always been a part of the Escort Travel Section. What I find amusing is that "still to this day", there's BUMPING BY OBVIOUS names to just be on Top of the List for obviously no apparent reason EXCEPT with Lame Bumps, to make their Travels seem more important than others. LOL

It is actually just as JT says… lame attempts to get some additional publicity. As if most of us here don’t know how to use the scroll keys on our computer keyboards! Also, as if any of us would really be interested in which individual is going to be playing in Peoria, Liege, Istanbul, São Paolo, Timbuktu or God knows where else when we will be 2000 miles away on those dates? Plus, as you say some probably do think that they are more important than others… but that is just human nature…

 

Those are simply the beastly bare facts…and that the way it is, has been, and always will be…

Yeah I think most people just scroll down or search for their city. I've always thought it kind of weird that people bother to "bump" their ads.

 

So the answer IMHO is sort by location and date.

 

Of course I realize that daddy has probably long ago thought of that but doing it is harder than talking about it.

 

But luckily Daddy has the wisdom to use software with available source code and which can be freely modified under the terms of it's license (GPL). Out of curiosity I just downloaded it and will have a look to see what sorting is available and whats involved in adding such a feature if it doesn't exist.

I sometimes forget to bump our travel posts, and when I do and they drop down to the second page, I invariably get emails asking if we've canceled our trip, because not everybody realizes there's a second page. Anyway, when I bump, I always use the word "bump" because...why play games and pretend I'm not bumping?

I just realized something that would require the DREADED BUMP…

 

Under USER PREFERENCES it is possible to set a DATE LIMIT that can range from ONE WEEK to ONE YEAR (currently mine is set for one month as after that it is indeed old news)… Consequently, it is possible for some posters to not even be able to view listings that are a mere week old… Of course, those who just view the message center and don’t log in will get the entire unabbreviated enchilada…

 

So something to consider if there is going to be a change in the way things are posted… Perhaps the travel section should be immune to such a setting or have a separate setting… in addition to the sort by date and sort by geographical suggestions noted above…

 

Shoot! While it might get a bit complicated it is indeed doable.

Rick..Exactly Many will just scroll down the First Page and seeing Older Dates not even look for a 2nd Page. Thats why "Superfluous" Posts do an injustice to those that end up on the 2nd Page!

I'm not sure that I have an opinion that others share and I am pretty sure that once I express my opinion there are bound to be some who either are offended or disagree.... but if I was asked my preference I would prefer not to see updates on travel posts such as

"OK guys I have arrived" or

" I have checked into the hotel" or

" I still have openings in my schedule"

 

I am guilty of bumping a few of my favorites but this is because their posts have been dropped down due to what I would call over posting from other escorts. I know we had a discussion some time ago about clients being able to bump, but to me if an escort is going to announce his bowel movements just to get his post back on top, then what the hell, it's open season for anyone, IMHO.

 

And just writing the word bump is really the same thing as far as I am concerned..

To me, once an escort has posted his travel plans, then I am able to see and decide...I don't need a constant reminder. I would be fine if the escorts would post their plans and then when they are booked for that trip, come back and say so in that thread. Otherwise I assume they are available until I read otherwise. We go find threads that have dropped a page, or resurrect threads that are years old, I think we can find an escort's travel post on page two.

 

For those who say I don't need to read the forum if I am not interested, that's true, and I generally don't if it's an escort I have no interest in. But I think some abuse the privilege by spamming the forum and dropping others down the list.

 

Anyway, that's my opinion.

Pinned or not that is EMPHATICALLY NOT THE WAY IT WORKS ON MY COMPUTERS!!!!

 

For example, if I don't 'log in' and go to the "Fetish Forum" I get pages and pages of threads going back light years... When I 'log in' I only get the current three threads that have occurred during the last month... as I have my preference set for viewing only the past month's postings...

 

Actually the pinned posting implies that the default setting is set for one month... I assume that is the default setting for those that 'log in' and don't set a preference... I am referring to those who don't 'log in'...

 

As I said I get the whole enchalida when not logged in...

 

However... you are the resident computer guru... so I would assume that I and my two laptops are totally wrong about this... so punish me... please punish me...
