"Butch Trade" ? ? ? OH please !

Maybe he only trades football or baseball pics, of hot sports guys.

Seriously, it was good of you to ask. But I don't know if anyone of us can TRULY tell you what that escort has in mind.

Except, if he DOESN'T do penetration, and that's what you had in mind, then I guess you don't need much more from us. Since you obvisiously didn't get much MORE from him.

If you saw him, post the review; if you didn't, we'll all keep on "penetrating the unknown."

Cheers,

The only way to know what he meant is to ask him.

It sounds like a "do me" queen. He'll lay back and let you do him but don't expect any activity on his part.

But the only way to know for sure is to ask him.

This kills me. We discuss in gory detail war deaths and healthcare and taxes and every other facet of daily life but we can't ask a guy what he means when we're talking about sex. How can anyone expect to have good sex if you're not willing to ask "what do you mean by that"?

He may have meant something entirely different from my interpretation, and frankly he may have made the phrase up all on his own to meet some definition only he knows.

The only way to know for sure is to ask him.

That is because politics and ignorance often are handmaidens. :p

Whereas ignorance and sex creates visions of frustrated adolesence right out of a Porky's movie that doesn't wear well on most middle-aged men.

Answer to age old question: What's worse that being ingorant? Looking Ignorant. :o

Any comments made in this post were entirely unintentional. Just seeking refuge from shoveling snow in whipping wind. Please don't send me back out.... at least not yet. :7

(Last paragraph is a dead giveaway that my tongue isn't frozen to someone else's cheek. Pity. ;) )

If you read gay literature (which I do from time to time), that is a term straight out of the 50's and 60's. The kind of thing you will find, for instance, in Truman Capote's letters to friends (which have been just published and I can highly recommend for fascinating reading (Too Brief a Treat, edited by Gerald Clarke, Random House)). Butch trade refers to guys who see themselves as basically straight but will sell their (limited) services to older gay men, especially those who are submissive and have lots of dough. They tend to have a hyper-masculine image, not well educated, blue collar class, maybe sailor type (think Marlon Brando in a wife beater). Don't expect to get fucked though, except in a figurative sense. :7

"Butch trade" is a pretty old expression. I first heard it during the Eisenhower years, when it meant a masculine (supposedly straight) guy who would allow homos to suck his cock, for money or some other compensation. I wonder who he has been hanging around with, to describe himself this way.

The bitchy saying in those days was, "Today's butch trade is tomorrow's competition."

I hope you didn't take offense. Nothing I posted was directed specifically at you, rather at all of us humans. Just my weak and weary pondering to deej's philosophical muse. :)

I think Charlie nailed it. Or, at least, that's my understanding, too, of a very old term.

ps: It makes me think of the first gay novel I read -- furtively -- when I found it at (of all places) a company I was consulting for. It was among a number of books on bookshelf. I waited until the end of the day, strolled by casually, grabbed it quickly and stuck it in my briefcase. The next day, I arrived super early so I could put it back without being seen, only to be beaten by the guy in the cubicle across from the bookshelf. I had to wait until he went for coffee before I could put the book back. Ahh.. youth. :-)

The book had a picture of "butch trade" kind of guy on the cover in a leather jacket. This was before I was out but, the moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to read it.

Lets see.... a "Butch Trade", eh? Is that something like exchanging one Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts for one Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo? That would be one hell of a Butch Trade!

LOL! I hope you like cartoons!

As far as what the guy meant by "Butch Trade", I have no idea. Very, very rarely have I heard the term Butch used to describe a gay guy. Usually, it is used to describe manly lesbians. Are you sure your escort boi was really a boy? :D

Perhaps it is a term for a "convertible" (i.e., female to male transgendered)?

A friend of mine is in transition from male to female. But he/she only wants their future companion to be female. Does that make him a lesbian or a heterosexual transgendered female?
