I know just what you mean. The thing that makes me smile (when I in a good mood) or pisses me off (when I'm being a grump - 80% of the time)

are those reviewers who take the opening two paragraphs to describe how they flew into town on a Wed afternoon after having had a 2 week e-mail discussion with escort "X" during which he found his manner to be very pleasant, however after he got to his hotel room and had a hot shower he tried to phone the escort "X" only to have his call forwarded to a voice mail box but he was reluctant to leave a message as he had to leave his room for an hour or so as he had to go to a local drugstore, which the front desk clerk told him was just down the street a block or two, but which turned out to be four blocks down the street, to buy some lube and condoms in case escort "X" forgot to bring them when he finally was able to reach him of his fucking cell phone. And he was so grateful that he actually did connect on his 3rd try and escort "X" said that he had been out of touch for 4 1/2 hours due to a family medical emergency but would be able to schedule there time for 11 p.m. that evening, but might be just a wee bit late as that is the time all the theaters get out and sometimes there is difficulty in getting a cab ............

I like the reviews that give some context on establishing contact with the escort and the quality of the interaction prior to meeting. For many of us who have had trouble establishing contact with a desired escort, this information can be useful.

On the other hand, I agree that a review is much less useful if the reviewer never mentions the nature of the physical interaction. But I don't always use quite the explicit language demanded by the first poster. I think it is sufficient if one can reasonably figure out what happened based on the description in the review. If a guy fucks well, I may say that he knows how to top a tight ass, for example.

One of the toughest things is to find an escort who will actually fuck a client. Too many of the so-called "tops" don't prove out in the actual encounter, although that may be for a variety of reasons that are understandable in the circumstances. If I'm looking for a top and browsing these reviews, I will look for reviews that make clear that the guy actually does fuck -- with enthusiasm.

We are all looking for different things out of the reviews. Ideally, I want to hear a little about the pre-meeting communications, get a clear description of the guy (including a decent characterization of his face -- something that many leave out but which is important to me if there are no face pics), a clear indication of what the guy will do and how enthusiastic/passionate he does them, and a little about how things ended (did he just leave, did they talk/cuddle a while, go out, etc.). I would also like to know how he compared to his pics (and whether he sent additional pics), whether he looks and acts older/younger than his stated age, whether he was funny, intelligent, etc. It's also good when the reviewer addresses any previous issues about the escort (from earlier reviews or the message board). I spend at least 2 hours with each escort I hire (and often much more, and many times on a repeat basis) , and I want "the complete package".

For what ever its worth....I truly appreciate a review from a client. With the current political climate, and the recent events in Houston, I have tried to maintain a somewhat lower profile and I have become uncomfortable with a "blow by blow" review of the action posted about me. Since I really dont depend on this site to generate business for me, I have been discouraging my clients from posting a review of me. I am always quite flattered by their reviews, but some seem a little too descriptive.

 

I think this site is much needed in the business of escorting, and I throughly enjoy reading about the client's experience and how an escort handled different situations. And, yes I do like the more steamy reviews posted. But for me, for now anyway, I am taking a wait and see approach to the subject of reviews for me.

Thanks for one of the funniest threads I've seen in awhile -- two great rants by Godiva and fukamarine in particular.

 

Sorry if this has been suggested before but has anyone ever tried to put together a sort of primer or cheat sheet for new reviewers, with samples of well-written, helpful reviews and some examples of the kind you guys are talking about? Because the styles are so all over the map, a lot of people who aren't really comfortable with writing don't necessarily know what to model themselves after. If someone -- ideally one or more clients with a highly regarded track record for writing useful reviews -- could come up with something, maybe a link to it could appear on the "submit a review" page, and more clients who could use pointers on what makes for a helpful review will have something they can look at.

I thoroughly agree with Godiva on this one. This is not suppose to be a novel. It's a goddam review of how good or bad the escort was and why. I for one don't want a history of 2 weeks worth of calls, emails, etc. BEFORE the encounter occured (unless it is VERY pertinent). If we're going to compile a guideline, as Devon suggested, I vote for this to be an important part. Since I don't show my face in pics, I rely on clients' descriptions of it. I hate to use terms like "VGL" so I don't use it in my ads; sounds so egotistical, when I'm really a modest, unassuming kind of guy.

I agree with the basic point of this thread: let's get rid of the non-essentials, and DO include a few relevant facts about what did or did not happen. Since we all look for different areas of "expertise" in our escorts, the review needs to be at least a little informative.

 

And now, a pet peeve of mine, not mentioned so far: When you say that you found this escort on "Other website advertising escorts," why the HELL couldn't you give the URL for that website 2 lines later, under "Internet Address"? It seems that very few reviews include this information, yet that other website can be most valuable in supplying other pictures, rates, travel plans, etc. Maybe the review form could add a little direction about this?

PERFECTLY SAID. When you find a review interesting and you want to know something about the guy, you CAN'T find him anywhere. This, I believe, is because HooBoy refuses to PUBLICIZE any website whatever, that does not advertise on this website. I find this EXTREMELY irritating. What gets me is a review where everything is perfect. It screams to me "planted review." As a reverse example was the review this week for Jesse in Vancouver. It started like so:

It seems to me that most of the vital information about the escort is contained in the top portion of the review form, so how much more physical detail do you need in the client experience section? I can understand wanting to see more detail about the escort's looks if you hired based on a torso or cock shot only, but if the face is that important to you, then you should contact the escort himself for that (after all what one guy thinks is handsome, you may find just average). Personally, a guy's face is very important to me and I would never hire anyone who could not or would not provide a facial picture.

 

I am not the least bit interested in a blow by blow description of the encounter as it is totally meaningless with what your experience might turn out to be. I am much more interested in the contact and meeting process, the personality and intelligence of the escort, the comfort level and whether the escort was interested in satisfying the client or merely going thru the motions. All you need to know is if the guy was a good at what he promised whether top or bottom, bondage or whatever and that doesn't require a minute by minute accounting of the action. I also feel that what transpires sexually between a client and an escort is their business and respect their right to keep that private if they wish. Are the ones who have their "shorts all in a bunch" just reading the review to jerk off or do you actually hire any escorts? If you're just jacking off then buy a porno book and go for it!

 

As far as publishing other escort url's, this is a free (and I find invaluable) resource provided by HooBoy and why do you feel he has to provide income to other sites? If it bothers you that much, then click on paypal and make a contribution and maybe he can give you that also!

When it comes to writing a review, it's apples & oranges for the various readers/posters out there. Some guys prefer knowing if an escort is the 'complete package' while others are simply looking for a Friday night thrill. Honestly, there's no real downside to either prefference or writing style. So goes the old song...

This thread is indeed timely. Early this morning I thought about posting a similar one but with a different twist. My thread would have asked whether or not you preferred details in a review or a general description of the encounter. Well, Godiva's thread is here; it is more candid yet relevant to my initial intent.
