hi there, first time posting. So today while I was exchanging a text message with an escort we had an argument, then I was blame on blah blah blah this and that. Anyways in his last message he ended the sentence with my real name (yes I have an unusual name). I asked him why he googled my number, he then told me no google required, and there's an escort/client database then he proceed to give out my full name.

I don't know if there's really some kinda of database or he just paid to some website to lookup my info. I am not mad just feeling annoyed.

Arguing via text…?

Good heavens! Don’t you know that’s what Twitter is for??

It is possible to learn things with reverse number look up - it has been mentioned in previous posts here, but I can’t recall the site. He may get your name but will have to do additional research based on that, if he intends to threaten. Escorts use it, but it is not a provider/client database. No doubt someone here will know more about it…

It's a duo. I messaged one guy ask the price of solo/duo/other guy. He told me the price then claimed that i am being disrespectful: if i'm interested in the other guy I should not ask him. I explained that I was not trying to be disrespectful and told him to relax, then he proceed to call my actual name.

Yeah i doubted the client/escort database as well, just curious. By all means, It left me a VERY BAD taste.

I think it is a long standing urban legend that escorts either have created or have access to a data base that will give out info about potential clients, including their name, home address, occupation and whether they are generous, "time wasters", etc.  I think he was messing with your mind when he said he got your last name from this "data base" .  He probably just googled it particularly because you haven't said you have an unlisted # or use a burner phone which would have made googling very difficult.  Your unusual last name just made it easier for him.  I know there are services that promise, for a monthly fee, to give, for a monthly fee, all relevant data attached to the holder of a phone number but I think most of those services are scams and give out little, if any information, one could not find on their own.  (I once googled one such business and found multiple complaints that once the 'business" had one's credit card #, it was virtually impossible to stop the monthly billing cycle.)

Anyway, to return to the thrust of your question, I think the so-called data-base is as likely to exist as Brigadoon, Shangri-La or Bali Hai.

Regardless, the fact an escort got so sensitive over a question and start to educate me over the text AND look up my number is nothing but scary.

Next time, ask for phone convo for such details. Nuance of intent can be lost in text.

There are apps out there that give out your full name.
Others can also leave notes about you on there that everyone can see.
Some escorts use it as an informal database to leave reviews on clients.

Seriously bad form and I’ve even had to gently remind some escorts who
wrote nice things about me that discretion is more important than praise.

Burner phone people.
Get one and use it.

do you happen to know the name of the app? you know, for science. Yeah i will get a burner phone for sure.

Suddenly my forum search function isn’t working, but I’m pretty sure
this is one of them that’s been talked about on here before….

A lot of times information gleaned from the internet is incorrect. This happened to me once before I used a burner, and when he wrote my name I replied “who the fuck is [my name]? Who is that guy? What are you even talking about?” Seemed to have worked because his explanation was bogus.

I can understand how the escort in question perceived it as disrespectful.  You should have just asked him for the duo price if you weren't interested in hiring him alone.  He's right that you should have contacted the other guy to ask his rate for a solo session.

Did he overreact?  Probably, but it isn't like there's no justification for his response.  This reminds me of a time I contacted someone for a session, mentioned I had seen a particularly hot porn scene of his and said something along the lines of being jealous that he had sex with that other guy because I found him so hot.  Well, he interpreted this as a slight since I was contacting him, not the other guy.  He then said he didn't want to meet me and that was the end of that.  I really hadn't intended to convey to him that I wasn't attracted to him -- if that was the case, I wouldn't have contacted him -- but I think he received my communication that way when I expressed enthusiasm about someone other than him.

I will add that I always search escort's/masseur's phone numbers prior to contacting them.  It isn't that I'm trying to find out personal information about them (though it's surprising when providers use the same phone number that's linked to other businesses they have or their personal social media accounts), I'm just trying to weed out known scammers. I assume an escort might do the same search for prospective clients.  Where he crossed the line was using that information as soon as he got annoyed by you; I would definitely steer clear of anyone who seems inclined to weaponize personal information that they found online.

That's where is stopped. Now I think about it, he's probably not happy with me and I am fine. The escort sent me a full page long essay (i'm not joking) that accusing me this and that and I told him need to calm down. I think that's where I did it wrong - once I saw his message I should just ignored the guy forever.

Sure everyone google other people's info (for whatever reasons, security, scammer), but calling my name and making things up about client/escort database is nothing but threatening.

Feelin' like dodged a bullet.

First, I'd also suggest using a 'burner' app.  I use this one, amongst others:

https://www.burnerapp.com/

Second, client blacklists are real.  The ones I know of are private and invite-only, as, naturally, they have incredibly sensitive info on them.  They exist to just warn within the industry and not to doxx people in a public square.

If you're truly concerned where your personal info might be posted, I'd also suggest looking into a service that finds and works to remove it for you.  There are many of them out there, some of which do a solid job of keeping the aggregators at bay.  Here's one I've had good experiences with in the past:

Thank you, Benjamin. This is so helpful. I had a terrible experience with a masseur sharing my full name and cell phone number in one those lists. I got very concerned about privacy afterwards. I’ll be getting a burner app ASAP.

I was visiting Denver and reached out to multiple providers on RM to get rate quotes to figure base price for the city. Whoever was on the other side was able to figure I was using a Google Voice number and that I had reached out multiple providers. Then I realized those multiple providers were probably being handled by a single handler sitting somewhere with multiple phones or Burner app numbers or multi-SIM card phones.

I did TextNow. The reason I did not use burner is because they want you phone number to register and it costs $. Texts now only needs an email. I'd rather not sharing my phone number with anyone, plus Texts Now is free as well.
