Thanks good to know! It was $40 tip, $60 massage - sorry for not clarifying. I'll keep the 100% standard in mind if its more than therapeutic, I don't go often as my salary isn't very high, but I like to enjoy massages every now and then.

$40 tip at a spa is more than adequate. I’ve spoken to several spa managers and they get plenty $20-$30-$40 tips. Sure everyone wants a $60 tip if it’s offered and likely the $60 tippers will get better service. That’s how it works. But let’s not shame people.

100% tip is for absolutely exceptional level of service, not just "more than therapeutic". We all know why we go to these gay spas (and they know why we go them), if there wouldn't be an "extra service", it'd be odd.

I agree with the above poster that 40 dollars is a good tip. I only tipped 100% one time and the masseur was so taken aback that I think it doesn't happen often. But then his service has been exceptional.

Has anyone here had experience with Spa27?  In particular Rodrigo?

I had a very surprising experience that I'm not sure what to make of.  Would love to discuss privately if someone doesn't mind.

Yes. I posted a summary of my experience with him in one of the other threads and I'm happy to discuss additional details privately. Here's the link to my post:

So what's the scoop on 27 Mens Spa versus 27 HK .. I assume just differnet location same owners? same employees or? Any recommendations? Preferrably looking for Asian masseur

Same owner, additional location which looks a little more "modern"/upscale compared to 27. (Both locations are fine and clean, just HK is newer and they have even added a VIP room which, I believe has its own shower. According to Ben, the owner, there's no additional charge for the VIP room -- it's just first booked, first used).

Some of the staff at 27 will work HK on certain days and vice-versa. Your best bet is to check out the schedule which can be found on their Facebook page. It's usually updated every Sunday and if a guy listed for 27 is working at HK on a particular day, it will be noted.

Here's the link to the FB page for 27:

Anybody have good experiences at All Seasons Bodywork on 43rd and 9th? Just visited yesterday and curious if there are any opportunities for regulars. Solid massage.

Had a really great massage there.  Nothing beyond that in my experience.  I'd return just for the massage.

Looks like a chain of "strictly legit" day spas pitched mainly to women, and likely staffed by same.  Were you able to request a masseur, rather than a masseuse?

Thank you! I visited chelsea men spa yesterday and had massage with Rodrigo. I also saw Victor (from superman spa). Both of them are Brazilians that I like. Next time I will try 27 spa Rodrigo.

I was in NYC last weekend, walked into the Spa 27, and they had no appts available.  So I walked over to Chelsea Spa, and they were able to take me as a walk-in.  Met with Kevin, an Asian guy.... tall and lean.   He asked if I would tip him, I said "yes, $50" and he said $60, and I agreed.  Massage and services were both......meh.   😔

Geez that is so wrong, asking if you will tip from the get go and then negotiating how much!🤬🙄👎 I would have said something to the manager/owner on duty! Totally unacceptable!

I was able to request a masseur.  The guy was aggressive and beat me up, but in the best way possible and I felt like I had really been adjusted.  Was sore the next day.  Again, strictly legit.

Hi everyone! I was hoping you could help out a massage newbie in NYC. I’m not too familiar with how the spas here work, Im used to the ones abroad where masseurs go all the way (or the very least, not just hands stuff). Are there any spas in nyc you’ve been to where I can expect more than usual massage?

Hi Ziggy, welcome to the forum!!

Erotic interaction for money is illegal in NYC and almost all parts of the US.  A business openly facilitating such a thing is likely to be raided and its staff prosecuted.  Discretion is a virtue for posters on this public message board describing private interactions, which I think you'll see if you read some of this very long thread.  To the point, there is no business in NYC where a customer "can expect" more than the legitimate massage he's paying for.

Recently visited NYC for a bit and went to a handful of different spas and tried different masseurs and wanted to share my experiences with folks. Want to note I had extras and left happy after each encounter, but quality of the experience significantly varied.

27 Men Spa

Overall, I think this was my favorite place. It’s a very clean space that has the right ambiance. It feels the most relaxing out of the three that I’ve been to in nyc.

Max: massage was decent, and extras were nice. Didn’t ask for more tip, which made me inclined to tip him well at the end (I did 60% tip). Definitely more on the sensual side of massages, but didn’t rush into it which I appreciated. Red Bull can.

Sebastian: gave a really strong massage and incorporated good sensual elements all throughout. Favorite extra out of all the masseurs I’ve tried from nyc spas, and he was kind about it. Didn’t ask for more tips, but at the end he used a translator to say that he hoped for a generous tip (80% tip).

Chelsea Men’s Spa

I’m quite disappointed in the service I’ve gotten here. I don’t think it’s worth the money and the massages were more like light touches than actual massages. Table shower facilities were clean, and the massage rooms were clean, but preferred 27 Men’s Spa’s facilities much more.

Kevin: Did the table shower and massage and 2 mins into the table shower he immediately started doing some sensual elements, which I prefer a build-up rather than going straight into it. Scrubbed my back and then I flipped over and he used regular soap. Asked me to stand up and proceeded with some sensual elements. Went back to the massage room and proceeded with a mild massage. He spent the last 10 mins just smacking my foot repetitively which was odd. Wasn’t a fan to be honest, also was rather aggressive about asking for tips (asked for 120% tip for extras). Not my favorite.

Daniel: better than Kevin and also had a similar flow with the table shower and massage, but had a much lighter massage. It felt like he was just floating with his fingers and also just seem so disinvested. Was a very cold experience, not a fan either.

HUSH

Facilities were the worst compared to the other two. Dark, grungy, and you can hear the staff talking through the walls which made it difficult to fully be immersed. They also used a YouTube video with ads for the background music, which was distracting to have the masseur skip ads every time the video finished. Walls were also quite thin so I was able to hear Kpop from the next-door neighbors.

Omar: kind and polite, and was the only masseur to ask me where my problem areas were. Massage was good, and added some sensual elements towards the end. Politely asked if I was interested in extras without asking for more tips, which I appreciated.

Feel free to DM me for more details if folks are interested, happy to share, or if folks want to exchange stories too I'm happy to do so :)

I think it would be helpful to have a new thread which would offer each Manhattan spa separately so that one could follow the reports over time. This mix of reports is not as useful.

You saw Johnny at Spunk Spa, write about him under the Spunk Spa category. The next Spunk report would follow.

It would probably be even easier if there were a sub-category for the NYC spas and then all of threads would be easier to find (maybe...). There are already multiple threads about individual NYC spas here but they get lost among the other misc. threads and then people start new ones.
