A new book shows that men's sperm counts are declining. By 2045, there may be no sperm! Penises are shrinking too! (Had you noticed?)

:... hormone-disrupting chemicals ...are decimating fertility at an alarming rate around the globe."

Among the "staggering" findings, author Shanna Swan says: “The current state of reproductive affairs can’t continue much longer without threatening human survival,” ... adding: “It’s a global existential crisis.” That’s not hyperbole. That’s just science. (Guardian)

As if this wasn’t terrifying enough, Swan’s research finds that these chemicals aren’t just dramatically reducing semen quality, they are also shrinking penis size and volume of the testes. This is nothing short of a full-scale emergency for humanity. (Guardian)

The book is Countdown.

Alarming indeed!

All right, I just read the article and I take back my semi-snarky post above. It does seem that this is an issue that should be receiving a LOT more public support. Thank you, OP, for alerting me to this important issue.

This is pretty awesome.

We can't seem to keep our own populations to a reasonable level - so what's wrong with the universe being like "KNOCK IT OFF"?

Economically, many of our systems don't do well with population decline - but that's OUR fault for designing these systems as such. Perhaps this development will encourage earthlings to re-think their systems based upon constant growth and conception.

Besides, even if we lose our ability to procreate biologically, by THAT time we'll have clones, androids, and incubation stations that will help remove the burden of gender roles from the female sex. Say hello to a possible Star Trek future! ? ?
