Happy New Year!

The six or so of us, who’ve had NYE together for years, had an hour if ZIOM (I was a ZOOM virgin prior to this).

Everyone brings something:

* Two bottles of Perrier Jouet les floured

* Caviar and smoked salmon plus dinner

* Seafood soup

* wine

* Pies and bourbon balls

 

I’m now on wine duty. On fellow had to sell his 20+ year old collection and failed to ask me.

 

Last year, I brought a 1986 domain Romanee Conte (I don’t remember which type) that I’d bought in 1989. It was sublime, fruity, and mostly wonderful. As a backup, I’d brought a 2010 Chateau Lafitte Rothschild. We should have had that this year.

 

I may spring for a Petrus.

 

DRAMATIS PERSONÆ:

Three doctoral level degrees

Four electrical engineers

One MD

One English teacher

Four MIT graduates

One Harvard graduate (the poor thing)

Three previous members of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus

Six homosexuals

(Last year) one trans MTF

MAKING IN ALL: six or seven

 

Quite the crowd.

Had red wine, snacks, some sport on TV and in bed before the witching hour. Woke up at a civilised hour on Friday morning, nice day out today. Champagne and sparkling Shiraz still in the fridge for later.

Finishing off a bottle of Veuve from last night. For me, Dryuary starts on the 2nd!
