TransMan = Looks like a man. It was born female.

TransWomen = Looks like a woman. It was born male.

I think most trans people would be really offended by being referred to as "it." FTM's definitely think of themselves as men, and thought of themselves as men even before any surgery or hormone treatment. A great read is trans man Skylar Kergil's Before I had the Words, which will give you some insight as to what it means to be trans and what they have to go through. FWIW, the man I'm communicating with looks even better than Skylar, who has his own fan club...

I think like everyone else has said, personality is a big factor. Theres got to be an energetic connection there.

If its a fantasy then already half the equation is solved, the only other factor is whether or you can make a relationship work. Because they sure are a hell of a lot of work!

May I inquire as to what kind of work is involved?

I think that's a controversial topic very few would like to dive into, and it would divert too much from your OP.

I used IT for speed writing. PC is too complicated for a fluid conversation.

I think @xyz48B has some answers. I can only think of the high maintenance due to permanent HRT, and correlated psychological issues.

If XYZ would be so kind, I would be very interested in learning from his experience.

There’s the HRT and the psychological issues, yes. That was ultimately what undid our relationship. Particularly his psychological issues, which were not caused by his body dysmorphia, but definitely exacerbated by it. There was also the societal issues around trans rights. It was a constant concern about where we were welcome, not just as a gay couple, but as a gay couple with a transman as part of it. My ex could “pass” in most settings, but when he didn’t, it was almost certainly going to cause issues somehow. That added to his psychological issues that of course also made being his partner more difficult. That’s the reader’s digest version of things. But it’s a good summary.

I kind of knew. On more than one occasion I've seen trans women creating drama in public spaces because they thought they were being mistreated, etc. If hormones are constantly being pumped into their bodies, there is also a mood unbalance. Repeated cases of suicide after re-assignation surgery made regulations change and now candidates have to undergo a very strict psychological assessment to make sure that they really know what they are and what they want. After that surgery, there's no way back.

It’s worth pointing out my ex sometimes abused/misused his HRT as well.

You mean 'roid rage?

I’ve always found trans men to be attractive. They seem to take the extra effort to hone in on their masculinity and sexiness, and demeanor.

Not necessarily, but some certainly are hot. Who could resist Laith Ashley, though I think he says he's totally straight....

If you walked past Jaimie Wilson on the street, you’d probably take him for an all-American heartthrob; muscular build, deep blue eyes, and casual scruff. You would probably never guess that he’s one of approximately 1.4 million transgender adults living in the US today.
