Trying to recover from 2 years of high doses of prednisone and now the docs have found a mass in my chest I'm starting to think maybe I need to try and fulfill some things on my list. They're not so spectacular but here's some of mine.

To see the Northern Lights

To spend a night in the Ice Hotel in Sweden

A hot air balloon ride

To finally lose my anal virginity and bottom for a hot hairy man dressed in a white shirt n tie just unzipped.

Expand

Hopefully that mass in your chest has already been taken care of and all is well with you health-wise. I do wonder if you were able to cross anything off this list since last year.

umfortunately no as i collapsed in Jan and spent 3 months in hospital and 4 months in rehab learning how to walk  etc again.......I still need a walker but I am finally home though I made 2 trips to the emergency room this week.

I've been fortunate enough to visit just about every site on my bucket list.  The one major remaining item is to spend fifteen days in Kandy, Sri Lanka.  During the full moon between July and August every year the Esla Perahera (Festival of the Tooth) takes place.

"The Esala Perehera is a 15 day festival that takes place each year in the small town of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The festival venerates Buddha’s tooth which is significant because it symbolizes the introduction of Buddhism to this small island nation nearly 2000 years ago. Every night of the festival, there is a parade of elephants accompanied by Kandyan performers and musicians. The festivities culminate in the last night with a procession of over 1000 performers and 100 elephants!
Each elephant is dressed in a silk embroidered robe complete with a lighted head mask; the colors of the lights identify which of the 4 participating temples the elephant belongs to. The larger elephants have their tusks capped in gold and draped with silk tassels; some even wear beautiful ankle bracelets."

At 81 I may not make it but I keep hoping and planning.

I'm one of the group of guys here who loves bull fighting.  In the late 1950's I spent a year studying and traveling in Mexico.  On one of my trips to Mexico City I went out to visit the city's main full ring on a day when there was not a corrida.  I sat in the stands watching various potential bull fighters practicing in the ring.  One of the impresarios saw me sitting by myself.  He came up, introduced himself, and asked if I'd like to work with one of the sleds.  They looked like a wheelbarrow with bull horns attached to the front and were pushed by a guy.  I literally jumped at the opportunity.  He showed me the rudiments of using the cape and away I went.  I was in seventh heaven and had a ball.  After about a half hour he informed me that he would be willing to take me under his wing and teach me.  I was 19 years old, 6' tall and rail thin at 145 pounds. He claimed I was about the perfect size for a bullfighter and as a young North American I would be a huge draw.  I loved the idea -- my parents DID NOT.  I was told, in no uncertain terms, to get my ass home or my travel allowance would be immediately cut off.  Thus ended my career as a bullfighter.

You sorta lost me at travel allowance as a 19 year old! Never had my parents provide anything of the sort. 🤣🤣🤣 Wonder how that would have felt like when I was 19? Won't ever know, as that was not my lot in life, but what a fantastic experience! Even if your parents did pull the plug on that. As a parent, I would definitely pull the plug on such a proposal from my kids! 😜

To be perfectly honest HotWhiteThirties it really was not a travel allowance.  For my 19th birthday my parents gave me the choice of a year studing in Mexico or a car.  I'm sure they expected me to take the car.  I am eternally grateful that, for some unknown reason I had the good sense, to take the year studying in Mexico. I studied Spanish and Mexican Literature, in Saltillo, in Northern Mexico and then traveled by second class bus 5,000 miles all over Mexico.  I learned more Spanish on the buses than I did in the classroom.  Mexican peasant women would hand me their baby while they opened their lunch, of tortillas, cheese, and fresh fruit and insisted that I share it with them.  It was at this time that I came to absolutely love Mexico, its people, its history and its culture.  When I retired in 2002 I should probably have moved to Morelia, Mexico.  If you ever visit me in Southern California expect to hear "ranchera" music blasting forth from a boom box in my kitchen.

I never had a travel allowance either. Always paid my own way on traveling.

What a wonderful gift and experience. I have always valued my travels over other things money might buy because of the experiences. Great story! Thanks for sharing and would love a visit!

I made a bucket (pronounced ‘bouquet’) list when I first tested positive, long before A Bucket List was a thing. As HIV treatment was still in it’s infancy, I was only one test or clinical trial away from the decline that could be fatal. On the list: mostly things I wanted for me; Living to see big birthdays... finding the One, making a nice home together, exploring some extreme sexual boundaries. Looking waaay back as it was literally half a lifetime ago I can say all those boxes have been ticked, and then some.

Now...As I am slowly drifting into retirement thanks to Covid Closings, I see my next list as mainly things I must do for others to help bring about the social change mandated by BLM, MeToo, Marriage Equality and other advocacy groups for civil rights.

Oh yeah almost forgot.

I would love to have a couple of porn scenes shot at my house, for free, so I get to serve as location manager, AD, and fluffier.

Please excuse this divergence, but I couldn't help but recognize what I presume to be a fitting nod to Patricia Routledge and her genius portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket in "Keeping Up Appearances." A wonderful gift from across the pond to the world! A BritBox subscription allowed me to revisit many of those episodes.

Now, on topic. I have a lot of things I'd like to see or accomplish on a bucket list...mostly related to travel or future charitable giving, but other things too. I haven't committed them to a formal list, though. Perhaps I should. Travel-wise, I would like to set foot on all continents including Antarctica, and as I love cruising, a cruise that circumnavigates the globe if I can make it to retirement and have the time and resources and health to do it.

I had on my bucket list for health to get fit and in a shape that *might* turn a head or two before I got too old...I still have more to do on that front, but it's been so very fulfilling and I have made progress.

I want to be in a position to establish a scholarship at my alma mater for students who lose a parent or close family member to suicide. That may seem quite specific, but it's part of my story, and those who are impacted by it are marked forever. It's a mark I have endured and been shaped by.

Other things of course. These are a few.
