One code, in Austin, seems to be a new, good-looking, young guy, with "visiting" or "touch my body" or "genonly" in his profile. My failsafe is hitting on someone new who truly attracts me physically, then if they respond engagingly, waiting to get asked if I'm gen. 80 percent of the time, you'll get a request for your phone number or email, which means that you're corresponding with a con artist.

Don't they ask for your phone or email because if they keep the correspondence talking about $$$ on the app their accounts are shut down?

Isn't Grindr cracking down on guys who use the "Gen" keyword on their profiles?

Yes and yes.

I believe that they ask for your phone number so that they can look up who you are, get you to send a nude from your phone, then accuse you of having sent pornography to a child, and demanding money. Best case scenario. Some say that hey are looking for your phone number to defeat 2-step verification on one of your accounts. Either way, I never do it.

I'm chatting up this guy who's a little younger but really friendly; and then he goes: 'r u GEN?'

and I'm like DUDE! WTF, I thought we're getting along and you ask me this? Man! I can't believe you thought I'd pay to be with you.

He goes: 'no, are you my friend Gen(nifer)'

I'm like didn't you get my picture?

"I got it."

I don’t get it. Why not just say yes and make it happen?

not that I would actually engage in convos via Grindr since the last few times I tried, they end up asking for my number for "POF" verification, so hard passes on them, but are we saying that if there is a pink flower right next to ben that the guy is offering up his ass (i.e., bottoming)? I thought I remembered seeing guys with flower symbols but they say they only top.

Not sure about other guys. The Cherry blossom is just my personal touch of advertising since, well, the resemblance is uncanny lol

Last evening, I rec'd several unsolicited photos from someone on Grindr who hinted at a hookup. The photos were of a very hot twenty-something with a thong tan line and a nice bulge. No monetary exchange was mentioned by either of us. Just when I thought that perhaps I might be receiving an early Xmas present, he sent the following message indicating that he required some type of verification on "MMRM" before our rendezvous:

"MMRM is where I can check if you're not an lgbtq offender just because last time, I met someone here accompanied with guy. That guy have a gun and point it on my head and they robbed me. Nothing left on me, and it was traumatic.

And this MMRM is for the site to know who i am with so whatever happen to me they know where i am and who i am with, that's the very essence of it. Hope you got me."

(These messages are verbatim.)

Obviously (I guess) some type of scam. Perhaps a blackmail set-up? Or maybe the site he was pushing (MMRM) requires a payment? Anybody heard of this MMRM? I did not respond to his message nor did he send any further messages.

It’s a fake profile will forward your information to an adult paying site. I don’t use Grindr anymore cause it’s literally infested with scammers and the scammers are getting better each time too.
