With a vast swath of people not working, and the highways much more open than ever, why are people still refusing to change their terrible speeding habits on the road? Are people in that mad of a dash to be bored sooner? It's pathetic. In a town in my general vicinity, the police recently publicly stated they will be citing drivers on the two lane highway driving AT the speed limit in the left (passing) lane. What about the 97 + percent of drivers who zip around everyone else, because they "need to be the one in front", risking an accident at every swerve?

We all are so badly in need of an escort of massage, at least I can blow off some finger steam.

I live within a city, and I noticed soon after the stay-at-home order took effect that vehicles were traveling the empty streets at highway speeds.

The number of speeding tickets has more than doubled since the stay-at-home orders took effect.

Same in ATL... there has been a big increase in the number of superspeeder citations. I think it’s for all the reasons above plus there’s simply lots of cars out there built in Germany and elsewhere to drive that fast.

One municipality noted a motorcyclist clocked at 172 mph. They were unable to catch him.

I have gotten 3 Camera Violation tickets for speeding already @ $50 each..... In my neighborhood they are claiming the speed limit is 25 mph. Who the fuck drives that slow ? Not even Mr Magoo's granny. And they claim signs are posted everywhere, yet I have only seen a limited amount of them.... Usually they clock me at around 35-38. Glad I am getting my stimulus check tomorrow so I will have money for more tickets for going to the local grocery store.

I was out for a walk the other day in Beaverton, OR and was nearly mowed down in a crosswalk by a guy speeding through a red light. The traffic camera flashed, so I hope he will be caught.

How many signs do you need in order for you to know that the speed limit is 25?

They usually will have a sign telling you a camera is in use... Ive been driving in this area for 50 years, and just started getting the summons' THIS year..... I suppose I will have to get used to driving like a granny ?

Please do so. Thanks.

25 is a standard limit for residential areas.

Correct. Here in Kansas, by state law, all residential neighborhood streets are 25 MPH unless otherwise posted. That is pretty much the rule in most states.

I have been on the autobahn where there are lanes with no speed limit. Seems you might enjoy driving there?

Lol... I have and it scares the sh*t out of me. But you raise a good point: drivers on these roads are well skilled and pay attention. I see people religiously using turn signals, moving to the left carefully and quickly moving back to the right, both hands on the wheel and eyes ahead with no distracting cell phones or chicken nuggets dropped in the lap.

As a cautious driver-- I'm much more cognizant of the damn fools who don't care for their life or the lives of others. They're driving at high speeds and cutting way, way too closely in lanes to pass and to feel as if they're "King-of-the-Road!" ...pathetic indeed, for they have a blatant disregard of the lives and welfare of others.

Yesterday while I drove on the freeway from my townhouse to the adjacent towns of some 5 - 12 miles away, (There are four of them, all beautiful coastal lands.) I'd wish that there had been highway patrol stationed strategically throughout this stretch and then some.)

It's about not killing pedestrians, who are a more regular occurrence in residential areas.

If pedestrians adhere to stop lights and walk in crosswalks, I dont see the problem ? Why would a pedestrian be walking in a road, other than to cross a street ? and when they do, they need to pick up the pace, it's not a Sunday afternoon stroll thru the park. And people need to keep their little kids on a leash. Watch your damn kid instead of blabbing on your phone and being "absent"...

Like they say, everyone needs to "stay in their lane".... I am not a speeder, but I dont think 40 mph is an abomination to drive around the neighborhood.... but 25 mph? dont they realize people have other things to do ? Those talk shows are only 1 hr long and at 25 mph I'd never get home in time....:p:p:p

Um, aren’t you repeatedly being mailed proofs to the contrary? For $150 in tuition, one would think you’d get an education, aka “Learn your lessons.”

Repeated violations will result in points on your license, higher auto insurance premiums, classification as an ‘habitual offender’, license suspension and even license revocation.

FYI, when you signed the form down at the DMV, you certified, under penalty of perjury, that you would obey the traffic laws of the state Of New York.
