Coyote . . . On Joni Mitchell's Hejira album. It was one of the significant songs on that album. For Mitchell's devotees it was like the moment when Bob Dylan went from folk to electric. I think it is a truly astounding album.

 

 

 

However before that period one of my favorites of Mitchell's is this one. Probably because it is named after me.

three days ago in 1865, Abraham Lincoln was buried in Springfield, Illinois.......his funeral train had passed thru seven states and 180 cities along the way from Washington......though some don't like to realize it, Lincoln fought the Civil War to preserve the Union and enforce majority rule, not to abolish slavery (ever the politician, that idea would come much later in the war).......

This gets me every time. A dear friend loved this movie and he passed unexpectedly in the early 90s while we were at university.

 

I requested this to be played and it was censored by the administration.

Finally got my was after threats to apply publicity... anyhow just watched and it still causes me water works.
