Why should they shut down? The information is out there and it is not just the escort who should make safe decisions. It is also clients that are looking and seeking services. The escort does though have the right to say at this time I am taking a break like everyone else. We are adults and should be able to make the right decisions.

I think the shutting down of sites would just create MORE panic and confusion, as we feel that more things are being taken away. I still enjoy "windowshopping" on RM, even if I'm hesitating doing any hiring right now. (Also, I'm needing to think about very careful spending at the moment - trying not to spend on too many luxuries lol). I'd rather that the sites stay open, if only mainly as a way to have a feeling of online status quo. I'm not aware of any dating/meeting sites that have stopped either. I hope they don't.

Any site that closes will make it seem as if it's closing for good. Like when we lost Rentboy, the Craigslist personals, etc. That was for a different reason, but it will feel the same.

Maybe remove the contact info then. Just use for window shopping and for future hiring. And don’t charge escorts any ad fees.

Interesting that the logic being used to justify a “no” response to the question could also be used to suggest that restaurants and bars shouldn’t shut down. You know, the information is out there and people can choose to go out there or not. Am I missing something?

Should any person-to-person services like hairstylists, spas, RMTs, nurses, manicurists, pedicurists, teachers, chefs, etc, shut down their websites during coronavirus? NO! Everyday those people are not online they are losing prospect clients they can see after this madness is over, and dollars they have already paid in advertising to be more visible to their potential customers. SMH ??‍♂️

No need to shut anything down. If you have a brain, you will practice strict social distancing, including avoiding unnecessary contacts as well as saving your money. A massive depression is coming. Sadly, I suspect this business will shut down itself.....

and on another topic, the 20% unemployment prediction and the long lines at gun stores has me TERRIFIED and I’m usually pretty sanguine.

This too will pass.

Not really. Meeting an escort is usually a one-on-one encounter. Restaurants and bars are being closed to reduce the larger numbers of people interacting and possibly spreading the virus. It is an argument against orgies however.

The oldest profession lol? I think it will continue. Sites may come and go and re-form, but I trust the business will always be there.

Right? Companionship has always been there during the Spanish Flu and yes, even during the days of AIDS. People are just horny. I might be wrong but I think that for some people is considered simile for other physiological needs like food and water.

So only 1-on-1. No threesomes with Corona?

Some very good comments and some scary thoughts. I work at a university in upstate NY. We've been subject to the Governor's erratic notices but understand how keeping crowding down is critical. I also enjoy a nice beverage on the weekends at a tavern restaurant but alas can't do that unless at someone's home, that's not all bad. But keeping sites down I don't think is needed. That's my thoughts

I hear what you’re saying. But any intimate human encounter right now is an encounter with every other person that escort has had proximate contact with for (let’s say) two weeks....even down to shared air in an elevator.

In this environment with this particular pandemic, the logic of “it’s just one on one” doesn’t stand the test

.....yeaaaa the number of people who have worms for brains is staggering, so..there’s that.

Isn’t this all just another risk/benefit equation that every individual has to decide for themselves ?

Every time I get into the car to drive somewhere I know there is a risk that I could be hurt - thru a mistake of my own or one made by someone else. I asses the risk and reward and make a decision. If I were 80 years old with impaired eyesight and reflexes and choose to drive a car then I am imposing a risk on others. That’s what defensive driving is all about.

Pre-COVID hiring carried a set of risks of various types with many unknown variables. Post-COVID hiring likewise caries a set of risks. Everyone has to decide for themselves what their risk tolerance level is and also the downstream impacts of their decision. Practice defensive hiring. (Or, more accurately, understand your risks and hire or not accordingly.)

Not sure I grasp the logic of the question. What would be the purpose of closing down the sites? Not sure closing down forms of communication and interaction are even in the best interest of the public in times of more forced isolation.
