Here’s hoping both clients and providers take necessary precautions to keep themselves from being infected. I’m wary of traveling providers coming from affected cities who may not know they’re infected. It seems like that was the case in Seattle. The virus has been going around undetected for weeks before the symptoms started showing up. No offense meant to Seattle based providers.

During a massage you are face down in a face cradle for most of the session. Then you turn over and the masseur massages your front. If there is a HE it is "down there" ....most times manual. Where is the risk?? During this time with Covid-19, and until we know more about it.... just be safe, and don't do anything risky like french kissing your masseur (as some in this forum in the past have mentioned they have done) , getting oral, swapping spit, etc. Your risk of being exposed to Covid-19 is just as high by sitting next to someone at work, or being close to ANYONE at Starbucks, the grocery store in line, on a bus, hugging a friend, etc. as there is in getting a massage. Go get your massage and keep living your life. Just be aware and keep it safe. There is no need to isolate yourself and stop living your life. Go enjoy a massage......you gotta live your life!

My concern, which existed prior to corona, is the cradle on some massage tables. Specifically, the cloth ones.

I often wonder if the fabric retains the germs of someone who was on the table right before me and had some type of cold, virus, etc. This concerns me more in the wintertime than the rest of the year. BTW, my favorite type of table is the one with a built-in face cut-out. Anybody else have these weird thoughts?

Face cradles have cloth covers that are removed after the massage, and washed with the sheet that was used during your session. On multiple occasions while I am changing after a massage, the masseur will come in to prep for the next client and I have seen him remove that cloth face cradle cover and replace it with a fresh one, as he changes the sheet also. At least the masseurs I have been to change theirs. You can always request a fresh face cradle cloth cover before he starts the massage if you have any doubts.

No, you are right. I have seen a couple of my favs who actually use zip-off covers on the cradle and change them just as they do the massage table cover.

I have never seen a table with a built in face cutout. Well, I did see one in a porn movie once, but never in person.

Just wondering if anyone thinks they will be hiring less during this time.

At this point I personally am trying to keep life as status quo unless I hear something further. Too early to panic yet. But some people do.

@Ajac you read my mind. I have been thinking when/if my weekly habit might need to be curtailed.

I have long suspected there have been times when I've caught a cold from the person massaging me, but of course there is no way of knowing for sure. The big credo seems right now to be wash your hands throughly. I try to do this now everytime I re enter my apartment and carry a hands sanitizer. Also try to regularly wipe my cell phone an computer keys. I'm not quite ready to curtail, but unless you are with someone you've gotten to know extremely well, getting a massage is a very intimate thing. Just sayin. An abundance of caution may be just a few days or weeks away. Something new on the news everyday.
