I'm not going to be able to make my annual trip to London because of coronavirus. It's particularly disappointing because of all the hot new working boys there.
Do you think it's that more dangerous? I just returned through Amsterdam a week ago and have Czech twins coming through London tomorrow to DC for two months. You come in contact with more people in grocery stores and on the sidewalk than in airports now, not to mention nightclubs and movies or shows. Airports are sort of empty and sanitized very often. Mask, hand sanitizer, alcohol spray are my friends.

Nobody can count on nightclubs, movies and shows being relatively empty. Many Broadway shows, including To Kill A Mockingbird and West Side Story, are offering significant discounts.

Thanks for the link; it provides a lot of very interesting information. Coronavirus definitely affects the elderly disproportionately. The death rate of those 80+ is 14.8% whereas the death rate for those 10-39 is just 0.2%. It also has a disproportionate death rate for those with other preexisting health issues. People with heart disease die of coronavirus at a 10.5% rate whereas those with no preexisting conditions at just 0.9%. Also interesting that to date no children under 10 have died of coronavirus whereas many children die of the flu each year, although contamination of the flu is far more widespread than coronavirus is so far.

 

What about the 14% who require hospitalization but for whom no hospital beds can possibly be found? I assume their mortality rate is very high. One way to energize the population in Germany or the US would be to build/convert temporary hospitals now.

 

Also, it's significant that there are virtually no community cases in Africa outside Egypt, Russia, Ukraine, South America, etc. In all of Mexico with 135 million people there are exactly 3 active cases. In 2009 Mexico was hit hard by the Swine Flu. Tourism and business relations may matter but warm weather may also with Coronavirus.

Russia and Ukraine are colder than the United States in the Winter. And Russian Springs are not all that warm, at least in St. Petersburg.

WHO has now formally declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic. Look for many events/large gatherings (concerts, plays, sporting events) to be cancelled within 2-3 days. March Madness will be cancelled....at least with fans in attendance. Same with NBA/NHL/MLB games. Conventions in March/April ain't gonna happen. Anyone still planning to travel by plane/cruise ship in March or April must be nuts.

You're much more likely to come into contact with someone from a country grappling with coronavirus at an airport than you are at your local bar. This is a time when you really shouldn't be thinking with your penis.

 

At any rate I've stopped going to restaurants, bars, the movies etc. I also ride the subway because I have to.

I was thinking of the Chinese study in the link where they have surveillance cameras in buses and have facial recognition of every resident. They tracked an infected man and everyone on his bus ride and summized which people in which seats he infected.

Okay.

Steps announced today by Canadian government to slow the infection rate.

$1 billion of new federal funding of which: $200 million for medical supplies, $275 million for research including (but not exclusively) for vaccines, and $'s to support the provincial medical systems, and $'s to support international efforts of the WHO.

Also to encourage self-quarantine the one-week waiting period for unemployment insurance will be waived.

Discussions are starting to happen in the media about how to handle the border with the USA.

Costco had a limit of two cases of bottled water but was per brand, so you can buy two cases of Kirkland water, two cases of polar spring, etc but a real pain in the ass since I was buying it for my office for normal consumption and we go through about a case a day.

 

I was in Vegas last weekend and got an amazing deal at Paris. There were a lot of people on the street but casinos were quiet and no wait at all for the Paris buffet which usually has a long line.

In response to the coronavirus, MGM Resorts has shut down its seven Las Vegas buffets. So far, Caesars plans to keep its buffets open, as does the Wynn.

Not sure how a buffet is any more dangerous than any other restaurant. I wonder if the Detroit MGM buffet is shut down as well. That's the only MGM buffet I go to and I haven't been to that one in a few years.

 

I received an email from Caesars yesterday about the changes they are making and if their employees go to one of the areas they are recommending to avoid they aren't allowed to work for three weeks after they return home from vacation to be sure they aren't infected.

I wonder if church's will make changes. An Episcopal rector in DC was infected and their organist tested positive and is being quarinteened for a couple weeks. The rector shook hands with a bunch of people and served communion. In the episcopal church the rector would handle either the bread or communion wafers and we use a common chalice for the wine. I always dunk my bread but had me thinking churches should be telling all their members to start using this method instead of drinking from the chalice.

I'm doing nothing out of the ordinary. This whole this is ridiculous. More people die from the flu but you dont see mass hysteria. Quit coughing and sneezing into your hands, Asians and Europe I'm looking at your dirty selves, say the ABC's while washing your hands in between your fingers and under your finger nails and quit licking random door knobs. What the cdc is telling you to do know is nothing different than the cold or flu. Quit freaking the fuck out. Times like this just reinforces my thoughts on how stupid people are. If this hurt your feels oh well ?‍♂️
