RE: Norwegian Blue Parrot Award

I'd put it this way:

``What a story! Everything but the bloodhounds snapping at her rear end.''

Some would argue that the dogs here are a bit more rabid than bloodhounds. Now, can anyone name the movie, the character, and the context for the quote above? ;)

Hey, check out what BN himself says about apologies, in the post dated Tuesday, February 27, 2007 -- the one right before his own apology. Here's what BN says -- it seems to fit his own situation well:

" Forgive my skepticism, but I'm not a huge fan of apologies that come only after an evident threat to one's livelihood; I have difficulty believing that they spring spontaneously from a troubled soul. ...."

That's not what BN himself says; those are Mark Harris' words.

Really, this is as easy as "Who's buried in Grant's tomb?" or "In what sport do they wear tennis shoes?" (Soccer)

The wisecrack comes from the great Thelma Ritter after Eve Harrington holds eveyone rapt (even that bitch Celeste Holm) with her story about the loss of her man to the war. And it's from ......ALL ABOUT EVE.

First thanks for mentioning one Hollywoods most durable supporting actresses. Nine times out of ten Thelma's snappy retorts were scene stealers. Hollywood has never properly honored these actors and actresses. These are the people who bridge the gap and add the color and texture.

Second All About Eve had something that so many films today do not, outstanding writing. No doubt excellent acting, but when you are given an excellent script and ruthless women what could be better for film.

Thanks mind-the-gap for beginning the process of moving on. I am still not sure what you were trying to save us, potential and current clients, from. Having seen Ben for the first time 6 months ago, I was well aware of most anything that was said about him. As far as I can tell he has been totally professional with his clients. If you are concerned that I placed him a pedestal, I do not think I would do that with any escort. Ben's faults are certainly more exposed than most. That said I have had one escort ask me so "How do I get Icon status like Ben?" I found the whole question actually a bit odd and really did not know how to respond because I do not think of any escort as an Icon, well known good reputation professional those are good things to have but Icon. To be honest very very few of us know an escort or client for that matter so well that they really do know the person they are with and their true motivations.

Anyway it is good to move on. With all these ex-posters' returns does that mean "Woodlawn" may resurface too. It would certainly add to the bitch level. Little doses of spice and the flavor to the pot stirers.

My acceptance of Ben's apology had nothing to do with the process of others for "moving on." I don't believe that people WILL move on from this for a quite a while, simply for the fact that Ben's crimes were so egregious in their totality. Again, this uncovering was not simply about plagiarism. If that's all you got from this thread, then perhaps a re-read is in order for you.

My acceptance of Ben’s apology spoke only to my inherent belief, that, if one demonstrates to his victims, and there were more victims here than just the authors from whom he stole copyrighted material from, remorse and regret for his behaviors, then accepting that apology is the right thing to do, no matter how self serving that apology might have been, and, no matter how difficult that apology might be to accept. That’s just me.

The only person responsible for moving on in all of this is Benjamin Nicholas. Not you, not me, not anyone else in this world. We don’t have to move on from any of this, until it feels like the right thing and the right time to do so, for each and every one affected by Ben’s crimes. And, that will only be demonstrated and put forth to everyone by Ben’s private and public acts of contrition, which have to date, have totaled a public apology on his blog. If Ben believes that he has put this behind him, through that one forced public atonement, then he has indeed not personally connected to the gravity and severity of his crimes and responsibilities he holds in his hands toward his victims.

Real contrition and atonement does not come to those seeking it, without them first experiencing or at least identifying with, the real personal pain of which they have inflicted upon others. And nor should it. In an odd, but appropriate way, if appropriately embraced and identified by Ben, the perpetrator, he will action himself into turning this evil into something good for others, in some related or unrelated fashion for his atonement.

I’d like to offer my suggestion to Ben tonight, as to how he could begin connecting to a greater good, in his quest for personal redemption and atonement within our society for his crimes:

Start with donating one thousand hours of your personal time to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation: http://www.pedaids.org/ there are many ways to donate your time, and, a personal donation of $10,000.00 of your personal income derived from your escorting services to them, with $5,000 donated immediately and the remainder donated before the end of the year. I’m sure that any, and all of this is possible, based upon your past public expressions of your financial worth. Your personal time might end up being your worst hardship, but then again, this is atonement. It isn’t supposed to be a night out with Skrubber.

Let us all know what your atonements might and will be Ben. I suspect that no one is going away from this anytime soon……

>I am still not sure what you were trying to save us, potential

>and current clients, from.

In your case, as well as with some others here, just yourselves man, just yourselves. :-)

Tell him he can't. BN was HB's pet and HB is no longer available to confer that status.

< does that mean "Woodlawn" may resurface too
