Did his ad have nude, explicit pics?

Disappointed there has't been any further discussion on this thread as it has been both interesting and potentially useful.

Regarding the above quote - I had the same question. If the OP is reluctant to answer can someone who is a lawyer or knows more about the subject than I do comment on the legality of using pics of the genitalia (flaccid or erect) in police sting ads? I presume from what the OP wrote (though he did not state it explicitly) that the officer in question used pics of his own face in the ad the OP responded to. (if not how would he have picked him out of the crowd in the public place where they met)? I also presume it is not legal to use pics of another persons face or genitals (even if said dick is shown in a close-up and is not identifiable as belonging to someone else).

I would greatly appreciate if someone could shed some light on the subject.

Does

Oh my. This thread took an odd left hand turn.

I’m old and become easily confused so in a situation such as this I always revert to my dentist analogy. If I were choosing a dentist what criteria would I look for?

I look for someone who is professional and clearly takes pride in the quality of their professional services. If I were visiting a dentist for the first time and his office were in an abandoned crack house apartment I would rethink my choice.

<shrug>. It works for me.

Said dentist:

Fills holes

Sets appointments

Enjoys regulars

Dislikes cancellations

Wears non latex protection

We are not so different after all

I saw an ad on Grindr this morning. A hot young man in a police uniform. A police officer can be gay and can be on Grindr. I've never met a cop on Grindr or seen one in their police uniform before.

He has since blocked me so I do not have access to the texts. As I recall, I said "hi." He replied "$$"

I wrote something along the lines of "You're a police officer and you want me to pay you for sex? That's illegal."

He replied with two shirtless photos and a text that said "Yes it is."

He was hot or at least the man in the photo was hot. But, the man in the photos had several large tattoos which are a turn-off for me. He then wrote "It takes a lot of money to keep my body in this shape."

I replied "take care."

So was he really a cop? Was he legitimate in offering sex for money? Was this an in your face sting? Was he the man in the photos?

I really don't know. I'm glad the guy in the photos had all those tattoos but even if he had not had them there was no way I was going to agree to meet him.

I'll stick with guys known here for a while I think.

You done good, Doe Be Doe. Your last line is particularly on the mark!

I lurk a lot, and don't hire often - maybe once every 2-3 years. I have in the past before discussing any services at all, I asked if the person who I am inquiring to is Law Enforcement, or working for/with Law Enforcement in any way. My understanding is that they have to disclose if you ask, and if they do not, it is entrapment.

I'm thinking this is still a sound method, but anyone with more legal experience or understanding know?

You might want to read item 4 in this list. http://www.cracked.com/article_18385_7-bullshit-police-myths-everyone-believes-thanks-to-movies.html

Police are allowed to lie while running a sting operation, of course they are.

An undercover police officer could lie to you.

This is appalling. You would think the police had better things to do than entrap people on rentmen. What a colossal waste of resources that should be used to fight violent crime

Out of curiosity, what do the general American public think about gay escort stings? Curious because Americans overall seem more socially conservative so I wonder if there's some popular support for the cops. Here in England we've suffered such severe police cuts that I suspect nobody wants our scant resources spent on this sort of thing.

That is not true a cop can tell you hes not a cop depending on what city and state your in in Florida there's no such thing as entrapment

hawaii, allows its undercovers to actually have sex with you before they bust you.

I think they may be passing a new law to change this. The vice unit couldn't handle all the job applications.

The most horrible thing with Hawaii vice is when they started charging providers with sexual battery for unsolicited touching of fake johns. Up to 10 years jail and a life on sex offender lists. That is one scary prospect if other PD's use it.

I suspect Hawaii is doing all it can to lessen the number of sex workers who drive tourists away. I haven't been to Honolulu in many years, but used to go often. In the evening, walking down Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki by myself, where the higher end hotels are located, lots of women asked me if I wanted a date. It actually got annoying sometimes.

Laws against solicitation make sense, but for them to be workable escorts need to be able to advertise online. SESTA/FOSTA put a big crimp in that. Way to go!

So basically the rentmen profile was a cop. Texted back and forth about what was wanted, decided to meet in public and met an undercover cop, arrested for patronizing a prostitute.

What information would guys like? I’m just trying to alert people to be cautious.

I'm curious to know if the ad was around for while or did it just appear? Were there any supporting reviews or information that would have led you to believe he was legit? I've read on here guys will not hire unless the guy has been reviewed. Then again, there has to be a first time before an escort gains trust. Would be great if RM posted the creation date of the ad.
