Had the "sting-er" just displayed and touched his, um, stinger the "sting-ee" would have nothing to worry about.

Assuming it took place in New York City.

Those are the rules, after all.

I dunno....RM isn't about public indecency....it's about solicitation...two separate laws in most jurisdictions.

Recently tried setting up something with someone off rentmen and it turned out to be a sting so just be careful out there guys and be cautious when setting stuff up.

One more time a warning that doesn't include:

City, period, how is the sting set up (in our outcall), etc.

If you're serious, please share with us more information.

So basically the rentmen profile was a cop. Texted back and forth about what was wanted, decided to meet in public and met an undercover cop, arrested for patronizing a prostitute.

What information would guys like? I’m just trying to alert people to be cautious.

In which city?

Do you have a link or screenshot of the pictures he used?

When did it happen?

Did he come to your place or did you go to his hotel/apartment?

Did you touch him? Did he ask for his money upfront?

I know it must be traumatizing but this are just simple questions

This actually is a good example of why to meet someone in a public place.

If he had come to your home (as either a client or provider), he could have also executed a search without a warrant of your home as part of the arrest. Alternatively, he could have come to your house with a search warrant when he came to arrest you.

I don’t want to give out the city or go into a lot of details because this case is not finished yet.

There was no money exchanged. There was no touching. And the profile was deleted before I even got home from the station (first thing I looked for to give to my lawyer)

Were you arrested for soliciting the undercover cop who had posted the RM ad?? Still a little confused who's on first!!

Thanks for the warning! Always need to be aware, of course. If you were the person arrested, you're sounding not too broken up about it!

Yes it was an undercover cop that had posted the ad.

Paul – I am exceptionally sorry this happened to you. That the Rentmen setup allows for this kind of entrapment is a tremendous problem with that platform that doesn't come with an easy solution.

I would love to know more information when you feel safe sharing it, as I'm sure most of us would. Whatever advice I can offer clients (current and potential) to keep them safer in their searches is priceless to me. Your experience is important, however traumatic I'm certain it was.

Of course! Once this case is finished I would be glad to share more details with everyone. I just wanted to get it out there now so that people could be cautious and know that there is a possibility that who you’re contacting isn’t who you think it is, whether it be a sting or not.

I personally will not say that I want anything more than a massage for now on. The person I texted wanted to know exactly what we were going to do, had I stuck with just saying a massage then I wouldn’t be in this mess.

Perhaps unrelated:

The 16th National Johns Suppression Initiative (NJSI) lasted from July 25 to Aug. 26 with 24 law enforcement agencies in 12 states, including the county's four largest cities.

Use a safe browser and search engine to look for your local municipality.

I had mentioned this before. Someone I know was caught up in one of these big stings. They put his mugshot in the paper and ruined his life/family/career. To this day, if you type his name, his mugshot shows up. He went to a hotel-they busted a bunch of people and released names and photos and their hometowns. Disgusting. After SOSTA, I am very, very careful and only hire people I know and reduced hiring heavily-not worth the risk in the puritanical society we live in.

I cancelled a meeting last week with a new guy because his story seemed suspicious. He's an early 20s guy who lives alone in a nice part of a major city's downtown. If he can afford to live in a studio/1 bedroom downtown I don't see why he has to escort. It was a new profile too with no reviews or verified pics so that only added to my suspicion.

I would have such a shitty attitude toward any cop who arrested me for this. I'd be like, "Hell yes I was going to pay for sex, and as soon as you release me I'm going to do it again."

Looking for sex with children or little helpless drug-addicted women is one thing, but there's nothing wrong with two grown ass men having consensual relations - even if money is involved. My opinion, and I would share it with everyone were I ever arrested. Family included. But I'm lucky. I don't have a beard wife or a job I would lose for being found out. I'm also not the least bit ashamed of the fact that I hire for companionship and sex.
