I tried to find it on YouTube but couldn't. This was many years ago; I have not watched SNL in a long time.

 

This was years after JFK was assassinated. Several people were asked where they were when they heard that JFK had been killed. None knew he was dead.

That Julia Child sketch may indeed be the greatest. "Save the liver" indeed. :D

 

But then there was that commercial parody for "Shimmer" - a floor wax AND a dessert topping.

 

I can only find an audio version of the skit - here 'tis.

"Shimmer," the floor wax that is also a dessert topping, is one of my all-time favorites.

 

Another is "Compulsion."

 

 

Lots of great commercial parodies. I remember being fooled by the authentic vibe of the Quarry cereal commercial ("better, because it's mined"). Little chocolate donuts, Jewess jeans ("guaranteed to ride up"). Colon Blow cereal...

On the flip side, during the 1977 reboot of Laugh-In an actual commercial for the "Look for the Union Label" people looked like a bad Laugh-In sketch.
