Trust your gut. Already starting off with ifs and buts, is not a good sign in my opinion. I would just move on.

That's not been my experience, and I doubt if any rational, profit-motivated provider would do that.
However, I never say "no." I say, "I'm out of town" or "I can't, but maybe next time."
I've had travelling providers text me every time they're in town, even if I haven't hired them yet, but only shown an interest. One guy came to Chicago 4 times before our schedules meshed. It turned out to be worth waiting for.

That is strange, I have declined booking a repeat when a provider returned to my area several times without them refusing future bookings.  I always said thanks for reaching out but I'm unable to book at the time, and feel free to reach out when they were in town again.  They've always been willing to book when they visited my area another time, and I'm not some high-rolling client.
Based on your recent posts you do seem to be having an unusual amount of difficulty navigating the hiring process.  I'm not sure why that would be the case if you've approached the situations as you've stated. 
 

This, absolutely yes. I only ever send one initial inquiry. There's no way to make someone want your business if they don't.

It depends on how far in advance it is.
However, usually, if a provider doesn't answer within 24 hours, they're never going to answer. And I'm not going to keep begging anyone with additional texts.
If I'm doing right-now hiring, I only give them 30 minutes. I've had to tell more than one potential provider that they took too long to get back, so I already hired a replacement. Plenty of fish in the RM sea.

This is one thing that irritates me. 
I wait 24 hours. Past that I am done. 
I can't stand people who have their listing set to active in my city but are actually out of town for 2 weeks. 
Or, they are currently with an extended client, or sick or whatever but they still show their listing. 
 
Why not put an auto reply on your text that says you are unavailable, or change your listing. It is just dumb because people who reach out while you are away just assume you are a flake. 
 
 
 

Agree! And it’s about the position, generally I prefer to ride it if it’s a big one because I can be in control of the pace and depth, at least initially.

I have never noticed this before.  How are you determining that this is the case?  There are nearly 300 ads in San Francisco; I certainly don't have the patience to start a list based on one site and compare it to the other site to make sure they match exactly.  The only thing I can say is that I have noticed that sometimes the same person appears more than once in the list, giving the appearance that there are more distinct listings than there are.

All advertisements should be able to be viewed via both RentMen.eu and rent.men.  It is the member who posts on Company of Men who chooses whether to post the link from one website or the other.  I, too, prefer to view in RentMen.eu.  Therefore, when I click on a link to rent.men, I am in the habit of manually removing the middle "." and adding the ".eu" every time.
