I saw them a few years ago and wouldn’t repeat. Nice guys but the massage and sensual aspects were lacking for the rate.

Yes it is true.... I have lived for a few years in Manila... and the amount of American inspired fast food products that are consumed on a regular basis is astounding.... particularly when compared to other Southeast Asian nations.

No. Working out has as much to do -- probably much more actually -- with health and longevity as it does with physical appearance. Appearance may be a marketing tool ("Look Better Naked" was the slogan at one of the gyms I worked out at) but people who take it serious see quantifiable improvements in their overall health regardless of changes in their appearance.

Interesting posting and I very much agree with you, except for the fact that at the same time the "fitness craze" takes deeper and deeper roots, and the availability of healthier lifestyle options are more and more widely available.
I wonder how much of this is an American thing, really. When I travel the world, I rarely encounter such obvious displays of widespread obesity and wonder why.... but then I travel to the Philippines, long under the overt and covert influence of the USA, and encounter obesity.
Makes one wonder.

You raise a good point here and one that I must confess little understanding of.
Standing at 5'10" and 165 lbs., (now that I have resumed my pre-COVID weight, haha) obesity is not an issue for me and when I think about "food choices" it may mean something very different from: for example, how to maximize nutrients while minimizing calories, how to avoid certain obnoxious ingredients, and so on.
However, I fear that for some "food choices" may have more profound health effects: the obese whose very lives are threatened by their weight must encounter a very different set of dynamics, for example.
True?

Or blackmailed into having sex with powerful men but to some "they had it coming..."

Wow. Who would have thought a thread about Hugh Hefner and the Playboy Club would stimulate such discussion here? Not me. I never had any interest in it or its patrons. Glad I didn't. I would have been shocked to learn it was just a rape hotel. Have I got that right?

Blind squirrels find the occasional acorn. Many daily NY Post readers in NY, across the country from where you are, read the Post for Page 6 gossip, headlines, horoscopes, the Jumble, sports and some read it to confirm what they heard on Fox News.

Surely, you can find a better source to quote in New York City.

Just mentioning I served in Vietnam so I know how to use a rifle is NOT a political statement.

Come! Come!
What do you expect? It’s The Playboy Mansion after all! You have to expect and accept any and all sexual acts.
*snark*

To be raped according to some in this forum, right?
With giving up the right to consent in the contract? I have a feeling some people are just jealous of all the attention and desire these women got..

Even still. That doesn’t excuse weird sex rituals, for instance. I believe you can do certain things that bring with them a certain set of expectations. But there are things that can happen that shouldn’t and you shouldn’t accept them, nor should we, if they shouldn’t. To be completely frank, I thought Hefner was better than that, but because it’s a sex house, I’m not surprised it happened. Precisely because I did think better of him, I didn’t expect it to happen. When I hear it did, in a place it’s likelier than, say, on the set of The Bachelorette, I believe that it happened until otherwise proven it didn’t. Just because it could happen doesn’t mean we expect it to. Nor does it happening because of a higher likelihood make it something we accept because it could happen. And the fact that centuries of power structures are in place to enable men to do this kind of stuff to women without serious repercussions (i.e. they should just say “no” or leave) also doesn’t excuse it. It only serves to show just how insidiously intracted in our lives this is. The question is whose side you’re going to take – the victim’s or the culprit’s.
There was a remark above about being a victim. It’s worth noting that no one wants to be a victim and some people will deny a serious problem exists simply to avoid the shame of victimhood. The responses of many a man like “you should’ve said ‘no’ if it was so bad” just highlights the shame that’s attached to being a victim. You don’t want that shame, you don’t want to be the victim of that either, so you keep quiet. Again – a facet of the system to keep itself going.

You can be assured that Hefner had lawyers ready to protect himself if the girls who came to live with him did anything they weren’t supposed to according to the “expectations” set out at the beginning. The fact that the girls didn’t have that is yet another example of how they were in a lesser position on the power play than Hefner. Hefner had expectations of what was acceptable and we can be assured he made them clear before anyone stayed there. I can reassure you “sex rituals” would not be part of what the girls were told to expect. Add to that the whole host of legal issues *if* the girls left and/or said something because they went against the rich and famous. That’s what is meant by patriarchy.

That’s the imbedded patriarchy. Much like imbedded racism. “At least I’m not *that* bad.”
Saying the girls could just say “no” and leaves underlines a lot about whoever says it. It underlines that whoever says that values their independence. They also will likely do whatever it takes to defend it. Even if it gets ugly. They also likely feel pressed down upon by certain systems that makes them feel as if they in fact don’t have whole independence over their own lives and thus overcompensate by blaming others when they appear to have lost a similar independence.

Let's hope some posters never jurors in a rape trial... they'll blame the victim right away.
This also worth reposting!

As much as some may not like it, discussion about patriarchy is very much “on topic” when discussing the mistreatment of women in the Playboy mansion – both as it plays out in the mansion, in society on the whole, and in this forum. 🤷🏼♂️

And the thing is…the nature of rape is that you feel or you actually can’t just say no or leave. That’s what makes it rape…

I guess going to a photoshoot and getting undressed means willingness to get raped?
one more thing "erotic pictures" are not pornography.
